  1. Thanks mate, I mainly just done it as an experiment to see if it would work. It works lol. I usually just collect the pats for the mycelium for the garden beds, I'm not too sure if it's the right mycelium(if there are different types) but the plants are loving it and on top of that they are getting fertilized from the pat breaking down. I'm looking forward to also taking some prints also good luck on your next patty hunting adventure.

  2. Fair enough Berengar, I briefly forgot there would be many different species of poisonous mushroom, It's comforting to know that Panaeolus isn't a lethally toxic species (if identified correctly). Thank you again for all of your advice, absolute legend.

PS, are there any books you can recommend for SEQ area mycology?

  3. Thanks again guys, you're real life savers .

Are there any poisonous Panaeolus species that grow in dung? (For curiosity sake)

How much would one need to eat of a poisonous mushroom to die? One whole mushroom, or a cap or something even smaller still?

I'll be stopping by the library this week to pick up a few myco books, so I can learn a bit before I ask next time

    Thanks again!

  4. Hey again people, figured I would keep all my questions to the same thread.

I have been mistakenly calling the veil a stipe in most of my descriptions, sorry about that folks.

I found these today, I'm fairly sure they are pan cyans but just want to confirm, they have a convex head, dark gills, long stipe that bruises dark with no veil (Got it this time :))

I also saw some of these things out and about too, the first one was massive. (maybe a 1/4 to 1/2 of a soccer ball)
I thought it was a puff ball so I poked it but it was quite firm and fleshy.

The second one I found had a star pattern in it.

  5. The number one meanie-imposter. They will often grow out of the same pat, but the red/brown stipe and no staining are a giveaway, along with the quite turgid stipe too imo.

Thank you R.C. I'll get the hang of meanie identification one day I probably picked all the antillarums and left all the meanies haha

Ahhh , good to put a name to them , you'll note they smell pretty bad when they go off , so don't keep them too long !

Thanks Jungle John, I have just tossed them as some of the caps started rotting today, I didn't fancy having a sniff so I guess I will get the scent if I'm lucky/unlucky next time.

  6. Hey peeps,

Went for a walk this arvo and found a heap of cubes, found a heap of these too, could they be pans? None of them stained blue or have a stipe, some are very large.
All have quite a white top, very rounded, dark gills, some smaller ones are slightly tanned gold, but still no blue staining. Almost a red / brown stain which indicates they're no good yeah?

Not sure whether to toss them or keep them, we got more than enough cubes which I'm comfortable IDing.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

PS. these pop up in my garden and front yard all the time after a good down pour, what could they be?

  7. Any one like to go star gazing in SEQ? I've been thinking about getting the scope out once the nights start getting a bit cooler and longer. Would be awesome if someone on the forum had a filter kit to share.
I'm thinking somewhere between Kilcoy and Blackbutt range should be dark enough but I'm open to suggestions. You can see some nebula in black and white if you get the conditions perfect.

  8. I just saw there is a consultation happening currently, it closes in just 2 days.

    http://www.tga.gov.au/consultation-invitation/consultation-proposed-amendments-poisons-standard-acms-and-accs-meeting-march-2016

The more people who submit the better.

    Edit: From the web page

Does this public notice mean that substances derived from cannabis will definitely be down-scheduled?

No. The scheduling decision will be made by a senior medical officer (in the capacity as a delegate of the Secretary of the Commonwealth Department of Health). Comments are being sought prior to a meeting of the Advisory Committee on Medicines Scheduling in March 2016. The Committee is made up of independent experts as well as state and territories representatives that provide advice to the scheduling delegate. The scheduling delegate will make an interim decision based on the comments made and the advice from the Committee.

  9. In my opinion photos 3, 4 and 5 are of panaelous cyansecens aka copelandia cyanescens, pans, cyans, blue meanies. Black spore print and the stereotypical presentation are the sealer for me. The printed one looks like a mature one that has begun to degrade. The fresh ones look like mature ones that have just dropped their spores over the last 1 - 2 days, depending on exposure to full sun.

Pics 1, 2 and 4 look like they are mainly cubes (hard to tell without being able to magnify them, even then...) with a fews pans smattered around. Check out this post (about half way down the page at least) I made a while back to help confirm by comparing my descriptions of the environs and conditions that are IME conducive to finding them:

    http://www.shaman-australis.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=38029&page=3

A couple of basic rules of thumb when trying to figure if it's a cube or pan (aside from obvious colour characteristics):

    - Does it have a veil? Yes = cube, no = pan

    - Does it have a thick stipe/stem compared to the cap? If it's a 70:30 cap:stem it's a pan. If it's a 60:40 to 50:50 it's more likely a cube.

    - Does it bruise blue green or navy/inky blue? Blue green = cube, inky blue = pan.

They both can have just a hint of gold at the top/umbo, and I've seen quite few pans that would give cubes a run in the ID stakes, but with these further criteria you should be right. Cyans will usually fruit much earlier as well.

BTW if you can, snap them off at the base and leave the mycellium in the ground to encourage further fruiting.

Awesome info, thanks mate, I will definitely be snapping them at the stem now. I probably saw a few hundred pans without realizing it then. At least I know for next time I go out.

I hear they are a bit more of a smoother journey so I am really interested to find out what they are like.

These popped up in the garden overnight. Hopefully it's the start if many to come.

Edit, The first 2 pics in my other post are just random patches of mushrooms(probably some uneatable maybe?), I saw probably close to 20 different species of mushroom in that paddock.

  10. Ah I understand what you mean now Ghosty. I never thought of it like that to be honest but I guess there are some dodgy people out there, sadly there will probably be a market for it for all the young guns that don't know any better.

I'm with you on the matter that these people should be shot. Only smoke herb that you trust is the philosophy I go by these days.

I don't think the government will be able to supply the demand of weed for more than a day, maybe half a day There's some serious smokers out there.

Fingers crossed we get something like Colorado.

  11. Yeah they are they only ones I'm confident in grabbing Responsible Choice, I've only just started picking in the last 3 months haha, probably could have grabbed much more if I actually had some experience.

Currently doing my own internal debate (do this every time )as to weather or not I should eat them. I usually overthink it way too much and bitch out haha

EDIT: Is that skinny little white one on top a pan or is it a cube also? (the one I'm taking a print of)

  12. I some times ponder if this is what might have killed me. The cannabis I had consumed that day and night was from a random, had a funny taste too it and seemed to tighten my chest. I just assumed maybe had not been flushed or potentially sprayed with an insecticide. I really hate to imagine that people might add a synthetic to the fat, sticky girl parts.

It was probably chock full of PGR's BanMan, if you don't know the grower and your buds are super dense, like little pebbles. They have little to no shine (no trics) and they aren't much bigger then a small nugget of dog shit, then chances are it was grown with PGRs like Paclobutrazol and daminozide or chlormequat chloride. These are sprayed on our agriculture products but were never meant to be in a short cycle weed garden.

I can taste when there are PGRs used in cannabis now, and I only green out/get sick from cannabis that has been grown with PGRs. This is the biggest reason we should be pushing for legalization is because so many shitty growers in aust use this shit in their gardens for "more weight" but they still end up with an inferior product as your resin production is completely affected. And to add - PGRs can't really be flushed out of a weed plant due to the short flowering cycle.

It is VERY viable economically to add such crap to cannabis, and It's also a big concern. The compounds used are a vast array of unknowns. jbh***,***,***,*** etc. etc. etc, cp**, **,***,**etc.etc.etc.

    etc.

Hey Ghosty can you provide a source or do the working out for me, cause I just don't see how adding a synthetic cbd to normal buds is economically viable man.

I'm in contact with a few indoor growers and they can grow ounces for less than $80 when you factor in lights, nutes and time spent, then they sell it for atleast $250 minimum. Making $170 profit per ounce minimum.

3.5g of a synthetic cbd will run for about $70 so an ounce would be worth $560 and it is probably cheaper to produce than normal weed meaning the profit margin would be even greater. I imagine if you had a vat of jwh-xxx you would be silly to not spray that on pot purri and sell it for what it was intended, synthetic shit. I smoked cloud 9 for a bit when I was out in the mining sector, It started messing with my vision, even when I was sober. So I quit the job and started smoking normal weed again.

  13. I was surprised to see some very baby shrooms in the cowshit in my garden this morning. I think they are the wrong variety but meh who cares.

My front yard has sprung up with a few dozen patches of different shrooms, I'm not sure on the species though. Don't wanna eat anything that contains death

I'll be heading out in the morning to go for a pick, I'm lucky that I've found some paddocks only 20 minutes drive which are very secluded and harbor a lot of psychedelia.

The first time I went out I found 3 giant (like fucking huge) Cubes they weighed in at 186grams together fresh, I dried them out and I was left with 12grams dry. One dried out to 5.5 grams by itself which I still have haha.

I think I like going out and picking them and taking photos more than I like eating them haha. I want to try some fresh ones though, I've always dried mine out. Fingers crossed for tomorrow.

  14. I think they will do something similar to Colorado, a sales tax, toke/weed tax, possibly even recreation tax to make it cheaper for legit medical patients. The government could use the extra tax from the recreational smokers to subsidize and offset the cost for the medical patients.

10% sales tax only = $300M a year, add a 10% weed tax and it goes up to $600M a year, add a recreational tax of say 8-10% and you're now generating somewhere around 800-900Mil a year with growth of nearly 25% in the following year.
It's more closer to a 1 - 1.5 Billion dollar a year industry. On top of that, because of our space, you we could set up international trade agreements to allow our people to grow for places like colarado, uruguay, etc, bringing in even more money in exports.

They have to go full recreational otherwise they'll never be able to stamp out the black market, and in turn will still be wasting police time and our money chasing the 'illegal' pot growers.
Who wants to bet the bet the turncoat government brings this to policy out if they start tanking in the elections. Big money in the weed game is knocking on our greedy corrupt politicians doors.
