Both Dennis McKenna and Bruce Damer were brilliant enough, brave enough and tenacious enough to do it. If you’re familiar with them you already know, if not, you’ll hear exactly what I’m referring to in this chat. Dennis McKenna is an ethnopharmacologist, researcher lecturer and author. He has spent decades doing deep academic and personal research on consciousness and psychedelics. Dennis is also the author of Brotherhood of the Screaming Abyss, a memoire chronicling his adventures with his brother, the late Terence McKenna. In addition to being part of the same circle as Dennis and Terence McKenna, Dr. Bruce Damer, is a researcher at UC Santa Cruz focusing on origin of life theory. Bruce has also worked on projects for NASA in which he developed asteroid-capturing spacecraft.

Hi Levi, Great to hear you doing well and that it wasn't such a hellish struggle after all ! Good move to keep reducing rather than going on subs - the withdrawals are lesser- but last a hell of a lot longer (so essentially are the same just drawn out). Regarding cravings though, its a good idea to find a new activity - study, creative pursuits, gardening - anything productive to fill that need for dopamine in your brain and purpose/satisfaction in your life that the drugs once filled. Jesso, Canadian author, public speaker, and podcast host in the psychedelic field. We will also handing over the microphone to you, the psychedelic community to share your own stories so we welcome you to message us with your name and a quick outline of what you would like to share at: [email protected] Bad Trips: Rehabilitating after Psychedelic Turmoil Bad Trips are troubling and complex phenomena. This talk will provide a conceptual framework for understanding bad trips: where they come from, what it means/takes to rehabilitate, and what the culture gets wrong about them from Jesso's unique blend of spirituality, trauma-informed psychotherapy, and interpersonal neurobiology. The lecture will offer some context for 'bad trips' that enables a healthy and helpful approach to the wounding and challenges that come with them.
