  1. oh sweet, thanks. That's perfect
  2. Nice one Schoey88, Looks like you got yours around the same time as me, though the trunks looks a little thicker (not so much 'droop'). Mine suffered a bit of heat damage late Jan early Feb when I went away and my 'designated waterer' was not as vigilant as I would have like (I kept the phyloddes that dropped) but they bounced back ...the phosphorous thing will hopefully be remedied soon.
  3. Thanks heaps for taking the time. It does all seem a little overwhelming (but I've thought that about many things I now come to understand well ). I purchased a soil Ph tester so will see what the conditions look like first. I also got some Osmocote for native gardens to give it a well balanced fertilisation. I've avoided fish oil on the Acacia's thus far as I was advised it is too high in nitrogen. Also it is unseasonably warm here (and has been quite dry up until a week ago), but this 'oranging' of leaves did first occur when they were seedlings and we had a very hot spell during which I was overseas, so makes sense. cheers
  4. Thank you so much Gerbil, These guys are growing well and have many new branches but there are still some leaves that loook like this, (I juts collect them as they drop off). When you say 'Phosphorous problems', do you mean deficiency or excess ? and how do I remedy it ?

    In and around today

Had some mates get good size cubes in the field over the weekend (only under the trees though). Found a bunch of these guys this morning in fresh dung, not sure of they are perhaps Copelandia or Panaeolus though.

    In and around today

Hi Brainhayes, I see you're in a similar area to me...and I also thought it might be a little late in the season. After the last day or two of storms though, it seemwd worth going to see if I could see anything in the fields too. Only found just these small cubes after about 10 minutes of looking...but good to know there's still fruit in the paddock and the humidity is still high-(ish)and with more rain since, I might have a look in a more reliable locale tomorrow
  7. Ok, first time trying to raise Obtusifolia from seed and about 70 percent germinated BUT they all appear to be elongated and 'skinny' (compared to what I have seen in images online). Is this possibly the result of too much sun or some other factor I have not considered? I am going to re-pot the little guy on the left here (as he seems the healthiest) when I get some soil from around the local Longifolia and Floribunda groves. thanks in advance, Flux
  8. So I've noticed as these guys get larger, that much of the older foliage has become mottled, dried and orange coloured (photos attached). Is this disease or merely too much midday sun ? thanks in advance

    I am moving to Nnsw

Hi Mystical Oyster, your just in time for the Somara shamanic medicine forum beginning next week in Byron http://www.somara.org/
  10. These newly potted Courtii are doing rather well, but I am curious as to the drooping branches. It seems that this is part of Courtii's general morphology... but should I stake them up to avoid hitting the ground or raise the pots (unfortunately cannot get them into any ground for a little while)- thanks in advance
  11. this is the specimen labelled Cereus Urugayanus in the Sydney gardens (which also could be a mislabel, I'm not sure)

What did you do in your sacred garden today?

While admiring the new growth of my 6 month old Caapi I found this gorgeous little guy living on my Longissima

  14. Hi Olive Given the micro-conditions that A.Courtii occurs in, is there a specific soil-mix recommended for these or would the Phleb mix suffice ?

    Acacia Identity

Good to know It will certainly make the larger ones easier to spot...going walking up to a spot which is also well documented on GBIF < http://www.gbif.org/species/2980237 >. Have a small test to run on the above Obtuse species (all previous attempts with Longifolia, Floribunda and what I'm suspected to be Longisssima have been negative (other than for learning the ropes)
  16. Hi Folks Could someone help with a definitive identification for this species. Found in the heart of the Nambucca valley 5 km from the coast in National park (mostly re-growth after fire a about a decade ago). Sample taken 2 days ago Some have tentatively identified this as Obtusifolia...(which would be nice to know as there is a lot of it growing ) kind regards,

Mid North Coast...and yes I thought they should be about to flower, it's been very warm-but could be even a week or two perhaps ?

    Acacia Identity

Hi folks, Latest finds are posted below; I suspect I am getting closer to Obtuse in the first two (small 1-2 metre plants with no flowers or pods to as yet) ...and the rest Maidenii ? cheers

    Acacia Identity

Thanks Baghdatis, As I become more familiar with what's in my area, I think A. floribunda and Fimbriata are the call...the former being the more prevalent and having quite deep red bark and very fine twigs that protrude from the main branches (which should serve nicely for a test sample). Additionally I have another curious specimen which the closest match I can find seems to be A.Binervia (more commonly known as the Coast Myall, which makes sense as it was found in a remote part of the Central Coast). Attached are some images of this significantly tall, slender tree with very flaky bark.

Hi and some Caapi help ?

Hi Folks, My first post here- I have just recently (2 weeks ago) received my baby Caapi and she looks a little dry around the leaves. I don't have the greenest of thumbs' so any help regarding potting, soil, conditions, etc would be most appreciated. Re-potted with premium potting mix and bark for drainage, I have her outside in a sheltered, shaded spot. attached are some pictures. thanks in advance, Flux
