Cmon people, you cant all be part of the conspiracy! I'm sure Torsten had some in the shop last year, how come none this year T? How about this; for a Perth member I'll trade either this narrow leaf Khat or this vienna white Khat plant for 15 corms.

Hi all, now is the time of year to buy and plant these, but who is selling them? Yes they are cheap in the northern hemishere but I live in west australia and we have quarantine issues. The explanation seems to be given by the tas-saff site which says they prevent their growers from selling bulbs. I found 1 australian site that sells them for $10 each corm, and a US site that sells them for $8 for 6 corms. Can anyone do better?

how can something hard to grow be a weed ? What kind of soil is around there?
-
pool water hardener sold in bunnings may be calcium chloride which, after oven drying, absorbs a relatively large amount of water and is non toxic, cheap and resusable

my viridis in Perth looks just like yours! I thought it would make a nice indoor plant but the leaves scar too easily. try the carth it does much better.

Aquaponics in barrels

Thanks, the jade perch sounds very suitable and edible. As for the catfish (and the guinea pig idea on the other thread) its hard enough to enjoy eating a handraised creature. Catfish make a squeaky noise when caught which I find freaky. The markets near me sell live marron and crayfish for ~$20 kg, I might give them a try too. -
Aquaponics; It may not be very cheap or easy but it looks like a lot of fun; http://www.northernaquafarms.com/knowledge...nics-Manual.pdf

Thanks Journeyer:) Great books! would you know the password for "Dean's Handbook of Organic Chemistry" though?

Off topic, but if anyone has seen the fairly recent movie Pan's Layrinth? (spanish) It features a creature made of mandrake root created for healing that comes to a demise that gave me the chills. Entertaining fantasy movie anyway.

got both to grow well in a $30 bunnings mini greenhouse that I cover in shadecloth in summer. Had a bad aphid problem on the viridis, fixed with derris dust but now there are yellowish, flat, 1-2mm lumps of some kind along some leaf veins and nodes. I scraped most them off with my fingernail and leaf is unharmed underneath. Would these be aphid eggs or something new? Hope Im not hijacking:)
