So you're certain its not possible to produce an effect like Spice gives by extracting individual chemicals from the likes of Pedicularis, Baybean, Dagga and Mochana brava and spraying them onto a base herb?

A mix of the extracts of wild dagga, blue lotus and kanna may works well for me. If it didn,t have to be smoked I would suggest Kava Kava and Kratom.

Torsten, just a thought, if you label the product as an herbal incense blend that may avoid any further hassles. Personally I,m all for secret ingredients. Its a by-product of prohibition. Those that don,t like it should be campaigning for drug law reform. -
Well whatever's in Spice, it certainly feels like its effecting the Cannabinoid receptor, as opposed to 5HT or Gaba. Any ideas? It certainly tastes rough.

Interesting. The Canavalia and Zornia are the only two ingredients of Spice that I am yet to experiment with. I am guessing one or both of these are responsible for the enhancement that one gets from smoking Spice. The other ingredients seem to be more relaxants.

Torsten, which Spice ingredient contains DMT? Im guessing this (DMT) is not a contributing factor to the effects, rather something that just happens to be in one of the herbs in trace amounts?.

hypothetically, is it possible to grow opium from the seeds from

I scattered lots of the supermarket ones about and they all grew ok, but produced small, shitty pods. Ok for tea though, but would be too much of a mission to harvest them. -
Yeah, seem to be more like bi - annuals down here in NZ too, mine flowered the spring before last and are still going, although getting a bit crappy now. I found the best way to harvest the seed is to cut off the brown spikey balls, place in a large bucket with a lid, and shake like hell. You can then throw away the spikey balls and should have a huge pile of seeds left in the bucket. Saves pricking your fingers:)

It was known about hundreds of years ago . . . Smoked on the Gulf Coast of Mexico as Marijuana substitute. Seeds have been found in royal grave sites in the Yucatan and Peru dating from 300 B.C. to A.D. 900. -
Sorry, I was going on what I,d heard, hence the "or something'. Anyway, most formulas containing Synephine do also contain White Willow, which does thin the blood. Does anyone know the reason for this?

Maconha brava is one of upto 9 active ingredients in the NZ smoking blend 'Spice'. This blend has an effect very similar (slightly milder but basically identical to) Cannabis. How much Maconha brava plays a part in this is anyones guess, but having tried most of the other ingredients indivudally I am guessing it may be a key ingredient. I have searched extensively online for info on this, including translating many Brazillian pages. The very limited info available suggests it is definetly active.

Bitter Orange contains Synephine. I believe it may have trouble crossing the blood brain barrier or something, but with the addition of white willow (aspirin) to thin the blood is said to be effective. This is a key ingredient in many of the Amsterdam herbal X since the ephedra ban.
