    T. pachanoi seedlings

They look happy as Is that a lil ferocactus or mamm or something in there as well?? In the first pic it is at the very bottom
  2. any general purpose fert will suffice, i use miracle grow (cheap as chips) on everything just dont go overboard. If the plant is suffering and undernourished a good dose of eco-amino-grow and or root excelurator before heavy ferts is an idea. They are pretty tough plants though, yours should bounce back no worries once the warmer weather starts.

    pedro loph graft

I use toilet paper and packing tape to graft, never fails me If the core "sinks" just after i have grafted it is usually due to one reason, not enough water. Make sure your stock is WELL watered before you graft and the core of the stock shouldnt sink, thats ime anyways. I generally use etoliated tips i have cut and rooted, best stock ya can get.

    after a few ids

Im sure if you grafted the first crest and gave it some more intense light it would show heavier spination and give a better indication of what tricho it is, or an areole graft or the regrowth from where you chop it..... either way youll find out in due course. The second crest looks a lil different to a tricho, only way to be sure is do as above lol.

    Trich ID

Tripsis is on the money. A nice plant imo, a slow grower from what i have seen, my one seems to get a lil rot if too moist in winter though it is in the ground, semi shaded. Im sure in a better position it could grow a little faster but it doesnt seem to have the same vigour as the trichos next to it.

    Origin stories

Some clones are named ppl just to keep track of them in their own collection, i and i assume many others have plants in their collections that are named for no other reason than this therefore being a named clone does not always imply there is something special about it. Anyways, in MY collection i have the following - Psycho0, T. bridgesii, Clone originates from Cactus country victoria. Named Psycho0 by sab member incognito in memory of his friend and sab member Psycho0. In my collection is the fastest growing tricho, flowers easily, i have used it a lot in hybridisation. Yowie, T. pachanoi. Clone originates in Yarrawonga Victoria although other large plants of the same type are found throughout Au as it is easily identified due to its distinct double downward pointing spines. I was directed to the mother plant of this clone by sab member Marsha, previously known as Yowie. This clone is also in the Fields collection and is one of the plants imported from South America. Super pedro aka lance aka cordobensis, T. scop or pachanoid, Clone originates from cactus country victoria, is said to be fairly common in SAust also. Named super pedro by owner of cactus country due to its size and growth. Eileen, T bridgesii, originates from colac victoria. Named after sab member reshroomED's mother. Clone prized by many ppl as a fast growing, disease resistant and beautiful Bruce, T bridgesii, originates from South Australia, im not sure on the naming of this one but im sure one of the SA crew will know more. For me this clone shape shifts or "melts" quiet a bit, is a very nice clone due to this imo. J1, J2, J3, JB, The first three of these plants are hard to ID with any certainty, J1 is a large peruvianoid or sorts, J2 seems pachanoid and J3 peruvianoid, Jb is a bridgesii closely resembling Eileen. All 4 clones hail from cactus country Victoria. I named these clones as to keep track of them in the collection and due to the fact i had used them in hybridisation and a name is needed for the parent plants. Bogan, T. macrogonus?, originates from Tasmania. Mother plant was discovered by sab member Dug and later on rescued from "bogans" who were trying to burn it to dispose of it, hence the name. For me is a slower growing tricho yet a very striking plant visually, very different spines on it. Rosei #1 & 2, T. peruvianus, originates from Fields cactus collection Victoria. Rosei was once a name given to Trichocereus peruvianus as to save confusion with cereus peruvianus and it was obviously in use when Fields recieved the cuttings from South America and the name Rosei is still used by his son. Rosei1 has much shorter spines than rosei2 and is often more blue, it is one of the most beautiful trichos here in Au i believe although the up and coming icaro seedling army will put more blue into the aussie tricho scene. MBN95 aka Super bridge, T. bridgesii, originates from Magic botanicals nursery, now defunct im pretty sure (Im not sure if that name is correct, anyone know for sure??) This clone to me is very similar to bruce, it morphs and melts a lot but doesnt seem to grow as fast for me as bruce does though this could be due to the position in the garden i have the plants. Sausage plant, T. pachanoid OR macrogonus (depends who you ask) Originates in South Aust although there is a large "clump" of it at Fields and is said to be on of the imports from St Am. Named due to its growth habits, it self terminates at the tip an usually pups from the terminated tip giving a sausage type look to it. Now some in my collection, a few others have these clones also - Essendon, T. bridgesii, I found this plant at Essendon nursery Melbourne Vic. Is a seed grown plant, often throws 4 ribbed branches. I named this plant to keep track of it in the collection, the story behind its discovery was another reason fro keeping track of it ;) Crazy spine, T. bridgesoid, Plant was found in a large planting of "Psycho0" at cactus country Victoria, as afar as we could see it was a seedling that sprouted up in amongst the psycho0 so obviously a hybrid thereof. As the name implies it has very different spines which are often curved and bent Glenrowan, T. bridgesii, originates from private collection Glenrowan victoria. Is probably my favourite bridgie, grows short spines to almost spineless. Short spined bridgesii, T bridgesoid. This plant was found growing along side "crazy spine" so again obviously a psycho0 hybrid. Resembles a bridgesii but has very short, thick spines, has a growth rate close to psycho0. Originally it was thought that this plant was a branch of psycho0 that had short spines, a sport. On further investigation, ie, i had a good look I saw that the plant wasnt growing out of the psycho0 branch it was coming from underneath even though it looked connected. The only explanation was a seedling from fallen fruit. Bendigo, T. bridgesii, originates from Bendigo Victoria. 2 huge old plants growing in the front yard of an old house in bendigo, similar looking to bruce although it doesnt disply the morphing that bruce does Rod, T. pachanoi, Not sure on the origins of this one, i recieved it from sab member interbeing. Very fast growing pachanoi from what i have seen, my plant is small atm but im sure ill have lots in a short amount of time due to its growth rate, interesting clone. Im sure there are some more, just dont have the time atm, busy busy. Will try add some more to this later on.
  13. My mates mum has had this plant for some time but she wanted it removed so i got it. It has had me puzzled for some time as originally i thought it to be a small barrell shaped echinopsis of sorts but it kept getting taller and taller. It throws a fair amount of pups usually at the tip and is FAT as you can see by the regular sized pach cutting next to it in the picture. I cannot recall what colour the flower is but from memory it is like most other echinopsis flowers in shape and size, ie, a skinny version of a tricho flower.... anyways, anyone got any ideas???? btw, the lil pinkish bean looking things on some of the spines are just succulent leaves my mates kids stuck on it.
  14. The past few days i have been lucky enough to travel through Victoria to see some very old collections and get some insight to when and more importantly what exactly was impoted way back in the late twenties to thirties. The first garden we visited was Robert Fields collection that was started by his father. The Tricho collection was collected by Ritter and co between 1927 to 1930. This stock was probably the first imports of trichos into Australia way back when there were no restrictions on importing plants. The stock was sent around aus and was also the stuff that was sent to the Bendigo farm (Dawson) and no doubt many others. The names of some plants may be disputed by a few here but there is no way i would argue the naming as that is what they were labeled when sent here all that time ago. Of course a few of the bridgesii i was shown looked nothing at all like the standard bridge we are accustomed to, but as Robert told me, they were collected from the regions where these plants are most common so there can be alot of variation throughout the many kilometers that the party travelled. here we go..... T. lamproclorus T. candicans Trichocereus x Echinopsis hybrid "Whiora" produced by Fields T. thelegonus T. vollianus T. camarguensis T. kubianus/knuthianus T. kubianus/knuthianus T. bridgesii longispinus T. chiloensis longispinus T. chiloensis longispinus T. valida T roseii # 1 T. roseii # 1 "WK" T. randaltii T. herzogianus var tortarensis T. tscheckoides var larajensis T. roseii # 2 T. roseii # 2 T. bridgesoid T. valida T. macrogonus T. bridgesoid I was most interested in T. roseii, it was a spectacular plant. I asked of the naming and was told that was its labeled name when it arrived in 1927 or so. I said that it has been disputed as it has been said it is a T. peruvianus and was told very definitely that no it was roseii and it came in 2 distinct forms, that being #1 and #2, number 1 being the longer spined variant. It is the most beautiful tricho i have laid eyes on, extremely blue and in full sun it is FAT as hell. I have some of both forms for prop and will try make it available when i have enough to go around. The second planting we visited was the old "Dawsons" cactus farm in Bendigo. I spent some time with the owner John and had a good chat and wander throughout. Most plants and seeds were originally sourced from Fields cactus farm as Fields and Dawson were close friends. There was not as large a variation of species as Fields farm but the size of some Trichos there is unbelievable. The pictures just dont do them justice. This particular planting will soon be opening to the public so i suggest you check it out if you get the chance. and finally, a few others we spotted along the way.
  15. I have tidied up this thread a lil bit, guys can you please stay within the forum guidelines, bretloth, if you arent familiar with the cacti forum rules have a look in the pinned threads, same goes for anyone else that has forgotten or isnt aware of them!. As for favourites, is hard to say for sure but i do love my tricho crests, i have a "peruvianus" crest from hamiltons and 2 super pedro x j3 crests, all 3 have been grafted a few times. Since grafting and a little stronger light the hamiltons crest is showing spines more in line with a cuzco type plant imo. Im also quiet partial to lophs and tbms The 2 SPxJ3 mother crests are the left and right front, one has been cut into a great deal more than the other, the grafts in the purple pots are from the crest on the left and the other 3 smaller crests are from the one on the right. I have others from the crest on the rights but they are showing more normal growth which will hopefully change in time, hard to say at this stage. The 3 large ones at the back are from the hamiltons peru. Hamiltons peru. some other stuff.......

Who is profiting from "legal" incence blends

I have seen a couple of ppl report getting headaches etc from using incense blends but on the other hand i have talked to ppl that have gotten the same effects from smoking pot, indoor and outdoor grown weed. The way you have worded what you have written though makes it out that these efeects are standard and what one should expect, ie "it was a very intense but not enjoyable high and the next morning YOU suffer from headaches, lethargy and a general malaise/sickness" as apposed to "the next morning I suffered etc". Im not having a go at you at all and im not questioning your experience with the stuff but its these kind of reports that get to me. Have you ever had the same kind of effects from cannabis?? The first time i tried any of these blends i had abstained from pot for 6 months or so, the effects took a lil while to kick in and when they did it was fairly gentle building up to a very pleasant high which after a few hours i could feel wear off. This was from kronic "skunk". The next time i tried it was a different blend called tropical explosion which i found to be a degree lighter in its effects. I tried a few more blends and the last one i tried was from northern lights and was their new blend at the time also called skunk. It was very strong and the more i smoked the higher i got, there didnt seem to be a ceiling to it so i assumed that one could go overboard with the stuff and get the paranoia or green out like one can with regular weed. Im guessing thats why in the description on the site mentioned "for the experienced user only". Last nite i smoked some organic outdoor cannabis, very soon after smokiing it i felt sick to my stomach, got a sharp pain to the side of my head and was anxious, something i have experienced before from weed but something i have never experienced from incense blends. That said, i have not tried all the different blends out there and i have no doubt some ppl would be getting some crappy effects from them as some ppl get shitty effects from all sorts of different weed or a whole range of consumables. The worst of all the blends i have tried was aussie chill extreme, it didnt really get me high as such and made me somewhat confused and a bit shaky, not at all what i was expecting and i guess if i had of sucked down a few cones worth of it rather than have a sprinkle in a joint it would have been a shitty experience and quiet unenjoyable. All in all, i think these incense blends are something to be embraced as they offer another avenue for ppl that wish to indulge and if they can use these where they cannot use cannibis then it is a great thing for them indeed. As for passing judgement on the mother buying for her son, well you are entitled to your opinion of others though there may be a whole plethora of reasons she was buying for her son. She may well have been doing the best thing for her son but that is a subject to which a whole thread could be dedicated.

Who is profiting from "legal" incence blends

Sorry, in my drug addled daze i thought that you must have meant that yourself as it wasnt quoted from me or how i wrote it, bit of misunderstanding, damn my horribly junked out confusion. I wasnt trying to pick a fight over trivial bullshit, i just hear so many ppl complain about these "legal" incense blends for unrealstic reasons and i had to speak. I suppose unrealistic reasons isnt really the term i should be using as some of the reasons are well founded as with most other substances people can and do abuse, its just when ppl use reasoning such as the "spirit" of substances and how another new(ish) substance could be the downfall of many children due to whatever reason is gettn a lil old. AFAIC these products in question are what many many ppl have been wanting for a long time, it is basically legal weed and now that it is available and an option i hear ppl getting all upset about it quiet frequently. I have no doubt at all that there are health risks from using it as there are health risks from most illicit pastimes myself and millions of others indulge in every day, shit, even every day normal activities have their risks. Im curious as to which blend you got (i dont expect you to name it) as i have never seen a "made in america" logo on any of the ones i have purchased. As for helping fund the war effort, while that comment may have been tongue in cheek, the act of filling your car with petrol would be more of a contribution No offence taken from the corporate puppet comment man, we all are whether we like it or not! BTW, those afghan poppies arent the american concern, the queen owns them thank you very much. Thanks for the good luck wishes, my life has been and still is well interesting, good luck to you too magicdirt.

Who is profiting from "legal" incence blends

Awww im soooo sorry i havent laughed at any of your jokes (i cant recall you telling any but thats beside the point apparently) magicdirt, corporate puppets like myself dont really know how to respond to real life humour, only government sanctioned comedy does it for me. If buying weed is such a hard thing to get your head around then purchasing some milk or bread must be a total mind fuck for you. I guess you are from the set that has the same old mentality of "oh man, weed grows naturally and has been given to us from nature so we should share it and let it be free because it grows in the earth". Everything is free if you look at things that way..... that is except for the petrochem side of life which ALL of us are totally dominated by. If you try and tell me you arent a corporate puppet the only person you are fooling is yourself! Wasnt that the whole point of your thread??? Yeh i piss and moan all the time about falling back into an old habit (cant recall doing as such all the time but if you say so) but really, i shouldnt because its all the fault of corporations and complicit governments isnt it. For starters you have no idea about what my private life or habits entail regardless of my apparent whining and if anyone gets hooked on anything i wouldnt be blaming the fucking government for the state of their affairs. I really like the little advertisement you added to your post, i wish hammer was as freely available now as it once was but alas, due to "corporate puppets" such as myself, better known as junkies it got taken away from us all. IMO, its ppl like you that blame the government for addictions and sickness that need a fucking reality check, i have never held anyone accountable for what i do to myself nor do i expect anyone else to work me through it as i assume you would because as far as i can see you wouldnt hold yourself or your kids responsible, it would be the fault of corrupt governments, money hungry corporations or filthy drug dealers for letting these evil scourges into our society. If you must know i havent even seen heroin for well over 6 months but you wouldnt know that because magicdirt, i dont know you, hardly recall you from these forums and its none of your fucking business. Some of the "hard times" i have "whined" about in the past have have had nothing to do with drugs at all but i guess due to the fact im a known "junkie" on these forums you just went ahead and assumed as such. In the past 12 months the times i have been off the forums has had nada to do with my drug use and more to do with........ well, like i said, its none of your fucking business. Anyways, you find it intriguing i dont know what the spirit of MJ is, could you please explain to me what this spirit does or feels like? Im gonna go out on a magicdirt limb here and ASSUME you know what you are talking about and can enlighten me to the full extent of this "sprit" so when i light up later on tonight i can feel the spirit and hopefully understand wtf you are talking about? OR i can just safely ASSUME you are talking shit about this alleged spirit and you just use the word spirit when you have no fucking idea how to explain yourself and need something to fill the gaps in your vocabulary so you come across as some kind of enlightened stoner guru. Shit, i just realised you have been on these forums for just on 12 months, fuck me. If you think i have whined much in the past twelve months you shoulda seen how much i have pissed and moaned in the past 5 years!!!!

Who is profiting from "legal" incence blends

LOL LOL freakn LOL!!!! So it doesnt have "the spirit" of pot, what exactly is the spirit of pot anyways, i have smoked for over 20 years and got nfi what you are on about. I have tried these so called evil synthetics and imo some of the blends were far preferable to the majority of poorly grown commercial weed available, nay, some was even better than really well grown outdoor which i love. I just dont understand why some ppl feel the need to question such an alternative ESPECIALLY when like mentioned a blind eye is the response from the powers that be. Who cares who is profiting from it ffs, do you know who is gaining from the bag you scored from a mate who got it from a mate who got it from a dude with an elbow who got it from the growers mate who then spends his money on beer and cigarettes? "Oh man but we dont know what the long term effects are of ingesting such a substance and blah blah freakn blah". Well you well know the effects of smoking anything could be cancer yet with your spirited all natural weed that isnt a concern i guess. Oh, wont somebody think of the children! For gods sake, the main ppl i hear complain about these alternatives we are lucky to have are full blown bong jockeys, perhaps they should just go back to complaining about drunks and alcohol and be glad there is an alternative if they ever need one.
  21. Youll need a shovel, some hessian bags, a trailer, a few mates and lots of beer. Get em all pacha, you will find room to store it all even if its all cuttings. The variegated arm on the pachanoid plant is very nice!

    tumbleweed 90s band

Few memories here Last time i saw tumbleweed was at the espy, loooong time ago now. Still got my meanies albums kickn around some where, they were always a bit better than the hard-ons i reckon. I saw so many live gigs around that time of my life, too many to mention but it all started back about 92 in Ballarat, the scene there was awesome at that time, mavises, spiderbait, the dead salesmen and the best metal/hatecore australia has produced - Damaged just to name a few. My memory cogs are gon be goin nuts today tryin to recall all the bands i went to see between 92 and bout 97. Just used to be the norm, go out every weekend and see bands, i dunno why i stopped doin that, i really dont. Anyone remember the fireballs??? bass player used to stand up on his big arse bass and play it lol Last year for my mates 30th his partner got the fauves to come play for him/us. There was only about 10 of there all up, was a good lil gig haha.
