    ID request: urban Melbourne

What are these thingies growing on bark in urban Melbourne? Too bad the area has likely been sprayed or the bark treated and they've absorbed all that probably. Please and thank you!

Legality of growing commercial strains of mushrooms

This is an interesting question. I have heard of 'plant growers rights'. Not sure what the rules are for fungi...

    Meet up: Melbourne

Thanks for your interest! I never really have much to say here and just lurk so it's nice to have some interaction Officially it starts on the 2nd March at Melbourne uni. But, I'm doing a subject that starts on the 9th February Speaking of Melbourne uni, we have a nice garden full of systematically organised plants near out botany building! Sorry about the photo, I didn't take it I only saw it after googling for photos. Too bad they took the photo of the gazebo and not the actual plants, and at a grassy less interesting place. There's a nice few cacti around that might interest some here (don't steal them! someone did a little while back! they're for education and treated with human harmful insecticides anyway). If at some point we want to meet there I think that would be royally nice! Everyone is welcome, not just staff and students. And, in any case I'm both and can stand up for us. And, well, it so happens that because it's technically Commonwealth land, vicpolice aren't allowed to access the site without expressed permission that takes some administration for them to organise. I heard a rumour that during some protests by socialists at the uni in the past that they knew of in advance they went overkill and the AFP just came down rather than working out something with the AFP and they had mounted (or was it riot? I can't remember) police around.

    Meet up: Melbourne

:'( Whyyyyy did my flight back to Melbourne have to be on the 6th! Arghhh! I still haven't been able to attend a Melbourne meet due to doing other stuff. I'd like to meet a friendly fungi grower in Melbourne! Could you message me privately if you're free? I'm on uni holidays at the moment so my schedule is fairly flexible but I'm about to start a research project soon at uni and that's gonna change quite a bit, so sooner is better for me. By the way, I hope this is kosher by the forum rules and if not, happy to change as suggested. Thanks edit 1: formatting

I'm in Sydney that week! I'd totally come if I had a means of transport there and back in time for my flight on the 6th haha. Have fun!

Or I can do the 11th too! Or both! University holidays are a blessing for free time!

    Meet up: Melbourne

I've never been before, but I'm interested in coming on the 8th and saying hello! I'm flying back from Sydney a medical research workshop in Sydney on the 5th or 6th so I probably can't make EGA. Can someone PM me their number or something, or tell me where exactly to go in the Gardens to find us? I'm not as familiar with the place as I'd like to be. Thank you!
  9. Don't see any mention of the plant meet on the EGA website or that facebook page... I'm flying form Sydney to Melbourne on the 5th and can only come to the plant meet. I've wanted to attend one of the meetups in yonks but I don't post, let alone visit recently so usually mis-time the Melbourne meet events on the gardens! Can someone fill me in?
