"Drug hallucinations look real in the brain"

I have this hypothesis, it is kind of under formed and I haven't done much research on the subject. So basically the hypothesis goes, You know how our brains aren't actually seeing what is there. There making up parts of our vision (we have a blind spot in our vision), creating fill in textures etc. Just doing their job so life goes on smoothly. However with prolonged use of psychedelics, this mechanism degrades somewhat and the trails, sense of distortion, variation in colour, aerial snow is our brain failing to properly regulate what we see. I'm not a scientist or a scholar by the way so i cant really explain this too well. What is everyone's thoughts on this?

How to challenge bail conditions in NSW?

In not sure of the credibility of this article. But hey if you want to go down route go for it. http://nesaraaustralia.com/2012/09/22/how-and-why-you-should-fight-all-fines-by-an-ex-police-sergeant/ Personally I'd chase up the pro bono option

How to challenge bail conditions in NSW?

Im pretty sure you're friend can apply for a pro bono solicitor, is your friend affiliated with centrelink? Maybe ask them for advice. Perhaps search the yellow pages? Im not entirely sure but there should be people available to represent you. There are human rights lawyer's who are willing to do some work for free, you just need to get ib contact with them /: Do a bit of research and luckily you'll find something to help your friend. I hope everything goes well and my empathy for your plight!
  9. there are communes out there that have set up an alternate lifestyle (although it is A LOT like share housing, just with hippies.........), have you thought about setting up within one of those communities? perhaps those communes could be worse than living in a city though. I do get what you mean with contact to the outside world though, regardless of who you are, there going to send a chopper to lift you out if you break a leg. What about finding a rural property and offering to work for a small plot of land, that way you have company and access to telephone lines.

How to challenge bail conditions in NSW?

I would definitely consider getting a lawyer.
  11. Maybe you should go way up Cape York like a lot of the Vietnam vets, find yourself a little clearing and forsake everything else XD
  12. Have you checked out the Barrington Tops? i use to go camping up there when I was a kid. Im pretty sure the Barrington river flows all year, neither am i sure about fishing, however there are eels and yabbys....... Also check out the Manning river, that's a little further out bush though. Ideally you want to be near the coast. Look up the Wooli Wooli river. probably your major concern thats going to affect your location is your want of mobile signal :D
  13. My parents grew some coffee in Newcastle, wasn't too bad. I was thinking of starting up on the far south coast of NSW, right in the middle of some national park. I'm planning to grow truffles and Waratahs as my niche as well as a few other things, I haven't systematically planned out what I want to produce yet so all advice is welcome Has anyone tapped into WWOOFing? http://wwoofinternational.org/ What are your experiences thoughts?
  14. this is my first post and i would just like to thank the admins and all you helpful people out there I found this tree on the south east coast about 6 hours south of Sydney. It was growing 600 feet above sea level in a mountain environment (as much as Australia gets mountains). It wasn't in the snowy mountains it was further north. The soil was dry and sandy with good drainage. I found many of these trees (5 or 6) and they were growing mainly halfway down the ridgeline (if that means anything) Unfortunately I scraped some bark off revealing the red colour of the tree, the bark is rather delicate and forming an almost scab like pattern of ridges and gouges. The outside colour of the bark was a shade lighter than been burnt. It had these little yellow flowers on it resembling a bell somewhat. This tree has me way confused, the leaves remind me of an acacia but the flowers??? And the bark, for the life of me I cant seem to find the name of this tree. One of my life sources says it may be a parasite living in a symbiotic relationship with some other trees??? Any help with this would be gratefully appreciated if you need any higher def pictures i can upload.

    Help ID'ing mystery plant

Thank you! It turns out it is Persoonia linearis. An interesting plant with a few uses. http://plantnet.rbgsyd.nsw.gov.au/cgi-bin/NSWfl.pl?page=nswfl&lvl=sp&name=Persoonia~linearis http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Persoonia_linearis
  18. What basic animals would be helpful for the production of food, plowing, manure etc? More specifically what are some low impact animals that would suit well to a hilly environment. Can you possibly feed a goat bracken you clear from your property? Is it wise to pasture an animal in a future garden bed?

The story of my little sister.

I was walking home from school one day when I was 16. And I came across this stream of liquid running across the footpath, thinking nothing of it and listening to my music I stepped over it. As I did this I heard 'help, help, help me'. In my mind i was going "I can ignore this and keep walking". However I didn't and I turned around to be confronted by this weathered, haggard, skinny woman urinating in a corner. I asked her how can I help? She didn't specify that I could help but she kept going on about how she couldn't remember her name, she couldn't remember where she lived, she couldn't remember anything. All that she could remember that her boyfriend beats her and abuses her, and that she didn't want to go on anymore. All this wasn't presented to me in a dignified manner, she was EXTREMELY distressed and manic, repeating much of what she had said previously. After trying to calm her down a little I ended up calling an Ambulance (not wanting to get the po po involved). After I called the Ambo's her 'boyfriend' came out of the pub and was smoking a ciggie. He begrudgingly went over to where we were and said to me "she's alright, just leave her be. She always goes off her nut" etc etc. Now where I found this woman was just behind a pub, and around the corner from where I was walking from is a train station. Through out all this she was moving towards the train line and when a train came and the boom gates came down she stepped onto the tracks. I was on the phone to my mum at this point and I had to run onto the tracks and grab her arm pulling, her off, he BF did too. We were in no danger of getting hit but it was kinda scary. The ambulance ended up coming and talking to her and her BF. She got even more distressed about going with these people that she ran away down the street out of view. The Ambos didn't want anything to do with me, the person that had actually helped her and called the ambulance, they only wanted to talk to her BF. They told him to follow her and he swaggered down street muttering to himself smoking his ciggie. Abuse sucks a fat one.
  20. Shamans would have been the priests of the day i guess... just no fiddling of kiddies and more consuming mushrooms. I wouldnt agree that anyone can be a shaman. One would probably need analytically skills, empathy skills, a bit of crazy, a bit of logic, an interest in the new and unknown, not been afraid by the unknown. A shamans role in the tribe would have been a repository for knowledge and skills. Read The Amtrak Wars by Patrick Tilley. The series features 'wordsmiths' who guide the tribe in a more practical level headed way, making sure the tribe doesn't do stupid things (they also dispense Dream Caps and Rainbow Grass). So basically a shaman guides a tribe in matters of spirituality and practically however that guide is not always followed..... I'm not entirely sure what the role of a Shaman could offer today's society, would the people of today trust the shaman who think he/she is just some whacked out hippy. I like to think I'm a Shaman however I'm not. I usually dispense new yummys to my friends, I research about them and thoroughly advise my friends to the effects and detriments before I hand over the lollies. I make sure they make there own informed decisions. I can also see both sides of a story and understand them, I try to get other people to understand too however that's not always the case. Sometimes I wish I did live in the bush with a bunch of people who were just surviving and enjoying the sunlight.... I hope I helped
  21. A virus that judges your intelligence and empathy and only the bad ones die? maybe the people who want to survive are the ones willing to step over our brothers just to get there.
  22. I've struggled with adjusting to this society, however I've found that you create your own society. Your friends, family, the ones you love (and some internet forums). The world will go on around you, unless you totally apply yourself to be in a position of power, there's nothing you can do. That been said, we should take a page out of the French book of 'Democracy' and drag our ministers out of their offices and stomp (maybe not stomp, just a thorough talking to about our concerns) on them until they change their mind. Australians need to be more politically active, the people in power need to see us on the streets actually giving a fuck instead of posting about it on social media like i observe a lot of the time.....
