    Pain-killing plants and extracts?

Homeopathic Arnica 6X is good for trauma and shock after an accident. Homeopathic Hypericum 6X is good for compression injuries and nerve pain. Horsetail (Equisetum spp) tea/tincture is good for healing bone. Lots of silica and minerals. Soloman's Seal (Polygonatum multiflorum) can be used like comfrey if your liver is a worry. Drynaria (Gu Sui Bu) the literal name of drynaria in Chinese is "mender of shattered bones." Chinese Teasel (Xu Duan) is meant to be a 'fracture healer'. Bach Flower "Rescue Remedy" is said to help with pain. Hope it helps :-)

    E, australe

A friend of the dragon that lives in my moat, says that E. australe is in the 2002 "The Aussie Plant Finder" by Margaret Hibbert, page 95. It says that Darwin Plant Wholesalers has them. We must be having a collective brain-spasm as I thought this was bad, m'kay.

    I'm Back! What's that?

If it has a square stem and a citrus-balsam-ish like scent when the leaves are crushed then it might be: "Cedronella triphylla(syn. canariensis) Common Name: Balm of Gilead or False Balm of Gilead Description: One of the few members of the Labiatae (Mint Family) with compound leaves. The intense, head-clearing fragrance of the leaves makes for good incense and potpourri material. Clusters of 1" long pink flowers are attractive to butterflies. Canary Islands natives used it to make "Canary Tea". This is not the Balm of Gilead of the Bible (Commiphora opobalsamum), nor the source of Balm of Gilead buds (Populus candicans), nor the Balm of Gilead Fir (Abies balsamea). Mandragora autumnalis dormancy?

Hi, Rev - I think you should water every couple 3-4 weeks of so during dormancy. Caldeye - I don't know how much light these plants need, I usually have the opposite problem. Water and mandrakes Spikey could you please tell us approxamatly where in Israel you find mandrakes? I looked up Israel's average yearly rainfall, 565mm and Adelaide's (plain's bit only as including the hills make a huge difference to the average) which is 410mm. Mine can still get root rot in the winter months. A factor may be that Israel's rain mostly occurs in jan and feb while Adelaide's is spread over about 5 month april-may to sep-oct. Mandragora shebbearei now called Przewalskia tangutica and Mandragora turcomanica are both on the list of B & T world seeds for 10 and 24 euro's a packet respectivly, although neither are cleared by ICON. Cheers [This message has been edited by Amunda (edited 18 November 2002).]
