No shit it is, 4g quality dry subs would be VERY heavy. Even 2g is still a strong ride, especially lemon tea style on an empty stomach.

Don't rush your journey though tripsis! Wish I was still away...

Well, they work! Grain spawn PC'd for 1 hour in a PP5 chinese take-away container, with polyfill filter and innoculation hole covered with electrical tape. Innoculated with Oyster mushroom liquid culture 18/10, fully colonised 14 days (cool temps to blame for slow colonisation). They don't seal completely, so I would wrap some tape (maybe micropore?) around the edge before PCing next time. I think I got lucky this time with no contams, there is mycelium creeping out through the edges where the lid doesn't seal.

Sweet, thanks for the update.

Was there any updates on this? I ordered through the site, sent a request but no response yet...

Did you see this one? http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/6252361#6252361 He uses a fogger, a heater and an airstone to get good amounts of humidity, and it keeps the water fresh. I reckon that would be more than sufficient and really easy to build.

Bloody good question, I wandered that myself. I agree that it will most probably still be considered 'old' as well...

Love to grab at least 100 as well worowa. Probably prefer T3's but either would be fine.

You will still grow the same species, but you will just need to isolate to get a good fruiting culture.

Interesting! Can't wait to watch this, thanks heaps for posting the info. Funnily enough they don't report about the environmental problems associated with overharvesting of these precious little fungi.

This one looks ok for the price - http://www.pressurecooker.com.au/go-72/Pressure_Cookers/HAWKINS_Big_Boy_-_22L_aluminium_pressure_cooker

If you can wait 7 or so months they will be fruiting in Oz and and if I find any specimens I could get you a print, but it would be easier, faster and guarunteed clean if you got it from sporewoks.

They grow in the southern states of Australia assumedly, not just SA - Sporeworks stocks a WA strain - http://sporeworks.com/Omphalotus-nidiformis-Ghost-Fungus-Culture-Syringe.html

I picked up some 'multix screwtop' containers today from the food wrap section of the supermarket, they have screw top lids and come in either 450ml or 750ml sizes - about $4 for a pack of 4. They should work out ok and are pretty cheap all things considered. It might be fine and a lot cheaper to use chinese take-away containers, but they don't seal very well.

Thats great advice.. I have just found out that possibly my whole spore collection which was stored in a storage unit, in a small wooden box, double bagged may be un-viable. So far 4 different individual prints have been useless. I have used a perfectly healthy print after 3 years storage in a mook so I wasn't expecting this - it feels like I have I have done them a dis-service... So I'd like to add, that you should keep your prints in the fridge.

There is a pretty good write up for a humidifier HERE.

Personally I have got healthy liquid cultures from numerous wild prints... Things have to remain as clean as possible, but sterile is not a necessity - don't be scared to try, nothing to lose but one liquid culture and a jar of grain. Nice pictures Shruman!

Last year I took home a small chunk of colonised wood from down south and buried it in a styrofoam box full of wood chips, and watered every now and again over the summer (whenever I remembered). We had a big storm about a couple of weeks ago and to my surprise (I was certain that the Perth city climate wouldn't suit them) these guys popped their cute little heads up - After a bit more lucky rain during that week I kept an eye on them - - and then the next day - Things went well with the weather and they matured beautifully - Then a big storm came through which dropped lots of leaves from the tree overhanging the box, which changed their landscape - Dinner! Stoked that the city climate supports them, time to hunt down some suitable mulch beds and spread mushroom babies....
