Products you use on your plants?

I think we should all strive as much as we can to use certified organic fertilisers and soil conditioners. I only use NASAA or BFA certified products and mainly compost from the bins/piles round my yard. Here is a list of Certified Product in Australia http://www.nasaa.com.au/product.html The most harmful effects of chem ferts have very little to do with us eating them. The Production of chem ferts has a huge impact on the environment And then when you do use them they aren't having a long term benificial effect on our valueable soils and surrounding local ecosystems. Whereas Organic ferts are produced in synergy with the environment and when used actually rebuild soil quality that has been anihilated by the generations before us. So rather than think will i die if i eat this fertilised fruit? Ask yourself how and where was this product made. If it is a chemical fertiliser then you must picture a huge industrial factory with people wearing white protective suits and oxygen masks and with millions of litres of toxic wastes being leached into our rivers and oceans every day. If it is organic then you must picture famer joe piling manure and recycled organic plants in his barnyard and shovelling it into hessian sacks. I'm not telling you anything you don't already know but more what things to think about when you do choose garden products. I urge everyone to look at the bigger picture and feel great about your contribution back to the Earth and future generations. Not to mention how crazy your plants will go

    Killing Acacias

The general vibe i'm getting from most people in this discussion is that "It's Ok to do this because it doesn't make much difference anyway." That same sort of narrow vision is at the epicentre of all man's great blunders with nature throughout history. Ok we are not cutting down hectares of forests, but where do we draw the line. wandjina's point is, In nature we do not know what the effects of what we doing are until it is already too late. If you want to extract acacia DMT then grow the trees in your back yard and use them.

    Ephedra showdown

A friend of mine is interested in perhaps growing Ephedra. It seems Ephedra Major and Ephedra Sinensis are readily available, They, however are dead set on getting either Ephedra Sinica or Ephedra Vulgaris. Would someone be so kind as to point out any differences here or lead me in the direction of any relevant information?

    Importing illegal products?

Thanks for the link torsten. How much of a tease is that?! Anyway, it is international Ebay and my grandma thinks i'm joking when i'm saying they are illegal. She's like "Plants?? Illegal?? Oh well they'll have to come and take me away then." with a big laugh and giggle. She's 89 and can't comprehend the concept at all. I guess her innocence is showing us all how stupid the whole thing is.

Most useful plant in your garden?

Hey guys I'm new on the Shaman-Australis scene and ethnobotony in general. I have been growing organic vegetables and herbs for a while now, so i am used to getting regular and good harvest from my plants. What do people find the most "useful" in their garden in terms of time to yield and also preparation? For instance if i were to have a dream garden it may have cannabis plant(s) in it, and they may produce good supply once a year, very hardy, with minimal maintence. Preparation is straight forward simply "hanging out to dry" I, of course, do not because that particular plant is illegal in my state. But i have read that from the wealth of information that we have on the WWW.

I didn't want to go say it out loud, but that's the one.

    Importing illegal products?

My grandmother is the most avid of gardeners for 30+ years, she particularly likes her flowers. You could imagine her surprise and joy the other day when she saw a new species of salvia seeds on Ebay, one that she wasn't at all aware of. Intstantly intent on adding it to her collection she gleefully put down her bid. What do you think may happen if she ends up winning?
