I do agree that this is common however the community and awareness side of things is just one segment of what we aim to do. The Bio-tech side is something Im really aiming for!
-
Yeh im willing to get support from anyone anywhere really however currently the organization's sole member is me so it would be cool to find some open-minded individuals here in Perth that would be interested in joining the journey. Forums like this often attract interesting people :D

To anyone who is interested! I’ve just started up my own fungi organization over here in Perth, Western Australia called Mycovative and want to carry on with what PUBF was doing as well as go into the biotechnology, medicinal, cultivation and mycoremediation aspects of fungi. I will be scouting around looking for people interested, primarily students, to get involved and hopefully turn them to a life a mycology – because we all know we need more of them ! You can check out my website and social medias below for more information, also if you know of anyone who would be interested in getting involved in the Perth, WA region. Website: www.mycovative.com.au Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Mycovative Twitter: https://twitter.com/Mycovative Mailing List: http://eepurl.com/bfF5Wr Generally if your interested in the application mushrooms have in industry and also in environmental sustaianbility i'd be happy to have you on-board! Feel free to share this around im really looking to get it seen! Also if you havn't seen this video on mushroom bio-tech check it out! www.mycoworks.com

check out this http://futurestudents.curtin.edu.au/school-leavers/how-to-get-in/flexible-entry-pathways/uniready.cfm. Completely free 6 months course that have at Curtin where Im held, I got in with this it was actully really easy .. was done 100% onlin now, universities are pretty much businesses's nowadays they don't care about ATAR and shit (dropped out of highschool in year 9 to work).

Im a Environmental Biology Student at Curtin 2nd year, loving it - wana go into mycology as there is only about 1 mycologist in entire WA atm

We shoudl organize a fungi foray in Winter, who's keen? be interesting to meet some fellow uni students aswell, what do you guys study?
-
Yeh i've got Turkey tail and reishi cultivating atm but I will be collecting some wild species this coming Winter, be nice to organize a foray in Perth for mycophiles interested! Ahh okay the cultivator I was in contact with said he had health and safety people check up on his cultures and actully took some away including some Lions mane that he had however I couldn't find any restrictions using the Western Australian Organisms Search. I think that the medicinal rather than culinary things will be forthcoming, recently I even seen on GWN a show about reshi tea and with all the superfood fads around im sure it will have its time to shine!

ShamanRus started following WA Gyms, tis the season

Nice, another uni student!

Glad to see this thread took off haha, Hopefully some meet ups happen, would be interesting to meet some like-minded individuals !

Does anyone know of a good place to find out what medicinal fungi are legally allowed to be cultivated in Australia. I was recently in touch with Aussi Mushroom Supplies were he mentioned that lions mane is not allowed to be grown and sold in Australia, I assume this goes for other more exotic species like reishi for example ... I always wondered why you only see cultivators growing Oysters/Shiitakes. Any help would be great!!

I know right! :drool2:

So is this thread still active?

Nice man! are you studying over in Sydney or is this just a hobby for you? I know a few people over in Perth who do similar and it amazes how many new species are actully around but the lacking mycologists availiable to do the taxonomic work on them is small
