I've been personally debating all day whether to say anything at all on the matter given I only met him once. But given the nature of who he was, open, fun, spontanious and kind this news has really left me gutted. I haven't met anyone as lively and young spirited as him and doubt I could have found a better person to first meet through this community. I feel a horrendous loss knowing I wont see him again and even worse that so many people here will go without knowing just who they have missed out on. I knew him as bridgsoid on these forums, the result of a forgotten password on his part. Much love to him and of course his loved ones during such a tough time.

Legality of Acacia confusa root bark NSW
HolographicYou replied to love is a stream's topic in Legal Matters
Hello there love is a stream! I too have come across these listings. My understanding is that the merchent would be marketing their product for use as a dye as a lot of plant materials are sold for this reason. Although they are walking a fine line with the law themselves being australian based, I've noticed quite a number exclusively selling products that contain scheduled substances. Although I await the day I show up for charges on possession of mimosa bark and syrian rue seed, only to show up to court in a uv reflecive purple suit. IMO regardless of the end use its just not worth the risk or the drama of being found in possession of these things, your better of growing these plants to avoid accusations. We may be able to summon torsten or another more savy member to shine some light on the matter. Welcome to the forums! -

Plant Growth Regulators/micropropagation chems
HolographicYou replied to Tripyamine's topic in Wanted
I don't know about micropropagation but I've gotten all my hormones from massspectrumbotanicals.com, they are based in america so naturally postage is a bit of a wait for us. I would be very interested in 'at home' tissue culture but I don't know where to begin. -
Hey incog, I've just sourced some from a vendor in Kenya that I have been meening to buy off for some time. I will contact them tomorrow and see if I can't get you some seeds.

It seems dissolving IBA into acetone is the most effective known way to propagate acacias by cuttings. http://anpsa.org.au/APOL2008/jun08-1.html

I'm pretty keen, should be able to make it. See if I've got something to share with you all. :D I'll be sure to get a hair cut this week.

Hey sorry to kind of hijack this topic, I too am curious on my sick khat. Anyone familiar with this discolouration of the leaves? Also to OP is it possible the soil is too wet at the bottom of the pot?

Wish people would stop spouting pseudo bullshit

Oh and whist this topic has somewhat shifted... Is it not considered fact that vaccines can bring out severly debilitating illnesses to particular people predisposed to such? I just never hear that arguement voiced.... -

HolographicYou replied to ace1928's topic in Chill Space
Absolutely get where your coming from ace, the only difficulty is that if there was no superficial chit chat relaying wonky belief systems then there would be very little being spoken at all. Not that I'd mind. I find if I'm not 'talking shit' or in a state of being, I'm left complaining about how we, the masses, get fucked over everyday. People would rather talk about football, or worse still their faith. Being over anilitical certainly can seem a gift at times, being able to keep your head above the surface, but sometimes I do wish I could switch it off and listen to ke$ha. -
I got mine from bunnings or deaken lighting for about $40 a ballast (holds two 2ft tubes). Just used 18w tubes which are dirt cheap for the lifespan they give. I have bought an 18w compact fluorescent globe off of ebay and it has lasted very long. These things get HOT! I'm not sure how safe a reflector would be without excess ventilation. Unfortunately I can't help you with a reflector I've been looking myself.

I'd put my money on narrow phyllode acuminata.

Acacia courtii propagation from cuttings
HolographicYou replied to ferret's topic in Australian Native Plants
Absolutely incredible ferret! There needs to be a lot more people practicing propagation this way, especially with the more threatened species. Keep up the study and keep sharing! -
Hey there corroboreans! Quick question regarding collecting seed pods off of acacia. I understand collecting pods should be done when they have dried and are about to open. Although I was wondering if there was a means to mature the developing seeds away from the plant. Better yet how many weeks would you say (from observation) it takes for a green pod to fully develop to brown and popping open? Kind regards, HY
