Designer Pollen Mixing when hand-pollinating Trichocereus
2XB replied to mysubtleascention's topic in Cacti & Succulents
I doubt every flower has the same potential for ovules/seeds.. . many factors would influence each plants production of its sexual organs.. . IE flowers on one plant can vary in size and therefore number of ovules, I think this would vary too much to get legit stats.. .(just an idea here :-) )... -
I have a few sparse flowers happening :-)

In my garden the ones that get neglected go yellow, ie root bound, no ferts. ... most of my collection gets absolutely cooked from too much sun, but if I feed them and and give the roots enough room they grow well And are nice n healthy looking. . If you give them a nice soil brew and regular feeds in active months you wwill see positive change surprisingly quickly.. . Good luck :-)

Thanks dood, yes that one and another talking about the same thing was all I could find, can't turn much up with web searches either. This seed came from the states from a tuncunaca plant. The seedling does seem healthy and growing as well as his mates, however very early days probey about 3-4 weeks since germination.

origin of t. bridgesii "bendigo"
2XB replied to wert's question in Cactus & Succulent Identification
I can only find a pic of one of the bridgesii's I am afraid, this was from october 2015 i think, this is the one on the fenceline (is this the one known as 'ben'????) heres some cuts of the 3 different plants I have rotting This is the one out front which I would call the 'Bendigo' Clone Here is a cut of the one on the fence line Here is the 3rd Bridgesii in the garden, I think its a unique plant but another member who is more cactussy than i says it is prob one of the other 2.... sorry for the crumby shots -
origin of t. bridgesii "bendigo"
2XB replied to wert's question in Cactus & Succulent Identification
"Bendigo, T. bridgesii, originates from Bendigo Victoria. 2 huge old plants growing in the front yard of an old house in bendigo, similar looking to bruce although it doesnt disply the morphing that bruce does" From a post by pd in "origin stories" Ive been told it originates from dawsons, which one cutting i got a few years back matches the bridgessi in the front garden at dawsons. I also have heard ppl say ben is bendigo, but the bens ive gotten resemble not the front bridgesii at dawsons but maybe the side one..??? There is at least 2 bridgesii's at dawsons, and maybe a 3rd. Sorry to add more vagueness to the topic ;-) -
