Historic Fields. That place is botanic history in itself! Turn it into a prickly farmers market produce park ;)

pics of the acacia plants i look after.
upside replied to spooge's topic in Australian Native Plants
I have acuminate's (broad and narrow), maidenii, floriunda, confusa, koa and phlebs growing well with neurophylla and courtii germinating. Never inoculated any of them and have used native and baileys potting mix with some coarse river sand and perlite in the mixes with some native osmocote thrown in. Unfortunately they're in pots, yet are still cranking out the growth. Don't be too fussy I believe, they're tough lil buggers as communacacian said. -

Yep I see that sneaky lil spine poking thru ;) and photosynthesis is understood also ;p I'll have a crack at what you've done above. I have more scions lining up for unification with some stock so I'll see how it goes. Cheers for ur input dude.

Cheers wert. I usually just pull the pups off if they start showing. Interesting is your idea about aeroles removal. I'll check out ur thread. Very happy ;) Now back to the scheduled auction.

Very nice indeed !! Just wondering tho why the stock has a lot of cuts where the spines were. Is that because pups were removed and more energy goes to the scion?

I picked up a bunch of these from Bunnings. Some have died from their overwatering regime unfortunately. I have about half a dozen left. -

Depending on the locations of the seeds collected, and I'm guessing from the wild? Hybridisation could very well be the reason. Pollen can travel a long way I believe on the tail of a wind. So over time cross pollination "could" occur as the varieties eventually encroach into each other's habitat resulting in hybridisation. It's probably what you may have thought already.
