    Cacti yellow discolouration

It looks like typical scarring to me. Absolutely nothing to worry about in my experience. Looks like it's growing nicely as well.
  2. Here's a big TPQC x TPM. It grows so much different on a big stock. You can see the old growth with tons of spines and growth points, but the new growth on the big stock is just one huge crest. I called this one TPQC x TPM "Broccoli" Here is a TPM x N1 Here's a different clone of TPQC x TPM. The entire crest's growth point died and turned black randomly, but it healed and started growing again with the tiny pieces of the crest that weren't dead and new pups. Not sure what this one is. I lost the label. I think it was TPC x something or other. Then here are my nitrogen's seedlings on their own roots.
  3. I thought I would add some to this thread since I took pictures recently. Here are three clones of TBMC. They all came from one plant. One is on a big stock, one on a small stock, and one on it's own roots. They all look quite different. This demonstrates how different growth patterns can come from different conditions. Then here is a big melted wax.
  4. So I got a koehres scop seedling, an ebay scop seedling , and a legit spineless scop x scop seedling to take on grafts. I will be updating with their progress as they grow to see how they turn out.

    Astrophytum thread

That's a flower bud. After if flowers, if you polinate it the bottom of the flower bud will immediately start to swell and turn into the fruit. The fruits don't pop out of the body like with lophophora.

Dang, that's a beastly clone! Beautiful!

    Most amazing cacti specimen

That is beautiful!! I would love to get ahold of it.
  9. There are no mealies on them thankfully!! Hopefully these two flowers will open this time. I am hoping the variegated plant flowers again soon. It has almost doubled in size since the bud showed up. I'm wondering if maybe it just said, "Screw flowering, I'm just gonna grow more vegitation." or something.
  10. I have a question for anyone experienced with astro flowers. Do they like strong light when flowering or should it be more shady? It's almost like the flower on this plant burnt. I have a flower forming on another asterias and it's almost starting to look like the last one did before it died.
  11. Oh yeah. Haha. Totally got them mixed up. I guess i shouldn't try to think after a day of golf and beer driking.
  12. I know. Mutant, check this out. http://www.cactus-art.biz/note-book/Dictionary/Dictionary_C/dictionary_crossbreeding.htm What do you think of that example? They seem to think that AS X CO is possible.
  13. So the flower was pink!!! Super stoked on that, but it died randomly before it opened. It just stopped growing and then the petals dried out. My other asterias are flower now though so oh well. Maybe it'll flower again too. It has almost doubled in size since the flower first showed up. It must have aborted the flower to focus on growth or something. I have no clue. I'll post a picture of it before it died later today. It had a really nice color.

    pod

What a great find!! That's a whole lot of seed. Holy shit!

What did you do to your cacti today?

The red new growth spines tells me Polaskia for that small columnar. All of my polaskia have red spines on new growth.
  16. By the way. This plant is actually grafted onto a seed grown TPQC x TPM that wasn't a mutant. Turned out to be amazing grafting stock!
  17. Mutant. I've seen hybrids of the two species around, but I can believe that it's hard to do. Zelly, is that the pollen you sent me? Edit: Nevermind, just saw the date. And the flower hasn't opened yet, so you still could send me some of that ;)
  18. I have rooted a penis from one of my crests. It's still very small, but I'll update once it grows more.
  19. I actually do have an asterias x coahuilense variegata and a few coahuilense seedlings. And you're the first person I've ever heard say that asterias and myriostigma don't cross, but I've seen other people showing pictures of or talking about asterias x myriostigma or vise versa. I even have some growing myself from seed. This is why I don't really get your point. The first two pictures are my asterias x coahuilense variegata plant. The third picture is an asterias "super kabuto" x myriostigma seedling.

    werts freak out button cactus

    Is that on a graft?

    Pups

Holy shit!! That is beautiful zed!! I would love to get my hands on one of those.
  22. You can use that same exact argument on your plant or any hybrid other than ones you've made. Anyways, like I said agree to disagree. Lets drop it. That's not the point of this thread.
  23. I've seen other crosses of asterias and myriostigma as well. And onzuka is basically just a myriostigma with flecking. I wouldn't consider it not to be a "true myriostigma" This is a non onzuka asterias x myriostigma. But I guess we can agree to dissagree. Myleoblast. I am getting pollen from zelly, but thanks for the offer!

    That would work fine.

    cactus rot help please

If you do that make sure to sterilize the blade in between the cuts so you don't just spread the bacteria or fungi further. That's my advice.
