Bruising seemed a bit hard to identify, it seems to bruise brown / dark brown Stems are hallow, some have very slight increased width at bottom of stem as it goes into the ground. Stems also seem to be quite fibrous and break up into stringy long pieces fairly easily. Spore colour seems to be black, my eyesight has troubles detecting any hint of colour - looks in person just like it does in the pic. Found growing in heavily mulched soil over the years, topped with over with woodchips - plenty of earthworms crawling about. A few of the mushrooms appear to have nipples on top. Last 3 pics are of little babies springing up as i post this. Cap in the first picture is about 2cm, definitely seen them bigger than this but that one would definitely be on the smaller side of one of ones i have seen mature enough to open.

I personally find it extremely difficult to believe that 80% of the worlds population are middle class westerners Sadly with a bit of googling i wasnt able to disprove or prove this figure however. I did however stumble upon that: 20.25% of the worlds population is white. 20% are Chinese 17% are Indian 15% are African Given these statistics that i pulled from wiki answers/Wikipedia i think its pretty safe to assume that your statistic is grossly overstated.

Chat works on iOS 5.1.1 in the main forum home page, however when doing full page chat from the chat page the shout button will not post my shouts to the chat. Anyone else experiencing this? This happens on 2 iPads and 2 IPhones I have access to.

Made some new BRF jars today, hopefully this might help out someone new Equipment: 12 wide mouth half pint jars Scissors Painters Coveralls - made from Non-Woven Polypropylene 20c piece Pencil RTV Silicon - or any other silicon with a high temperature rating Drill with 2.5mm bit 1) Use the 20c piece as a guide to draw 24 circles on piece of the painters coveralls using the pencil 2) Cut out the 24 circles of material 3) Drill 4 holes evenly spaced on the outer rim of the jar lids (if using two piece lids drill your holes on the inside lids) 4) Drill 4 holes in the centres of the lids, making sure that they will all fit under the 20c sized pieces of cloth you cut out. 5) Draw a circles of silicon around the centre holes and squash down a piece of cloth other the holes 6) Repeat this again, this time putting a circle or silicon over the outer edge the piece of cloth you already put down and apply a second layer of cloth 7) Put a bead of silicon on the outer holes from the top and the bottom. These will serve to be cheap self healing injection holes By the time your done you will end up with something looking like this Grow some nice legal edibles ! They will taste much nicer than anything you can buy in the shops

Funny you mention silica, i was thinking about that the last few day and thats basically exacttly how i plan to do my next primts. However i will be using an upside down take away container (minor difference i know).

After use i found that when cleaning the jars the tyvek folters came off a little too easily, in future i will lightly sand the area where i plan to stick the tyvek down,. Its probably worth while doing this to the area the self healing injection holes would be located too.

The jars in the original post proved to be very successful I am now harvesting oysters and the family is loving having super fresh tasty mushrooms !

Not to mention hot air circulating around the oven throwing around god knows what. Hot air is nowhere near as efficent as steam/water in sterilization

Id bet the foil comes put less clean than if you simply used foil strait from the roll after taking the dirtier outise sheet off

The advantage of this is you know the culture should be clean, its difficult to know your culutre is clean of you just pur spores in honey/karo water

id definitely toss it ! spores>agar>LC OR tissue>agar>LC both work Probably the best way would be tissue/spores>agar>grain then squirt water into the grain and suck it back up into the needle

Its nice to see those for the 'against' have taken the time to construct a good argument and have made some good points in my opinion. Whitewind in particular makes a good point that a single thread could probably do a good job of linking to tek's, the only problem i see with this is that it requires someone to constantly keep updated with all the teks that people write and update their thread - a tek sub-forum on the other hand would be self updating. This said someone putting together a thread of the teks available in the mycology section of this forum would probably be a good start to get the ball rolling, we could see how the thread plays out and a sub forum could be made much easier for the mod by dragging the threads from that list into the sub-forum instead of having to find all of them for his/her self. This would probably best be done by someone who has been around a for a while and has a good idea of all the teks that are hidden in the forum.

I have found the more I love a plant the less chance it has of survival personally My personal arch nemesis have been harbanaro and coriander haha

I had a dog at one stage that loved hot stuff actually, definitely not just a human condition ! Certainly could take it a lot hotter than most people, her favourite was home made peri peri chicken, way hotter than anything from nandos.

Your body learns that chilli is a good source of nutrients, in particular vitamin C. Your body will release endorphins that reward you for putting good stuff into your system (thus doesn't happen right away, your brain needs to learn that the chilli is good for you) at the same time as offering a coping mechanism for dealing with the heat from the chilli. So in effect chilli is like an addictive drug in its own way ;) On the same topic I am growing a range of chilli at the moment - purple prince, choc harbenaro, perwian white, jalapeño, orange harbenaro, Trinidadian scorpion and bhut jolkia - these last 2 chilli are EXTREMELY FUCKING HOT and are both in the top 5 hottest chilli in the world. I speak from research I have done on the subject - sorry I don't have any links for u off hand but the information is out there and should be that hard to find with ur friend google.

I don't think that sending people to shroomery is particularly healthy for the mycology section of these forums - you could argue that this forum doesn't even need a mycology section at all because we could discuss mycology over at shroomery. Really though, there is no dedicated Australian site for mycology discussion (as far as I am aware), infact this was my major reason for me joining this site in the first place. Teks over at shroomery are very American orientated, here on the other hand we talk a fair bit about using the resources we have here in Australia (like for instance the thread with someone spawning to a eucalyptus stump). It would be one thing if all the teks would be rehashing teks from other sites (which of course would happen), however it would also have teks that apply directly to us here in Australia, which for Australian mycologists would be a very very valuable resource in my opinion. So summed up I think a tek section would - attract more people to the mycology community here - keep more newbies here than just giving up on this site and joining shroomery instead - give us all more easy to find information on mycology relating directly to Australia - clean up the mycology section of this site making information much much easier to find

I think there should be, i find the teks here hard to find. You need to know about the name of the tek before your able to search for it to find it, searching for "*tek*" works but it also pulls up ten ton of other unrelated threads that are not teks.
