Mate im in sydney as well and there is no way i would have any of my own roots lophs out in the weather we have had lately. Way to wet and cold... As zelly pointed out it needs to dry out and very quickly. In this weather and in that big pot you would be lucky if it drys out before spring?? I personally have lophs outside but completely under cover and they receive zero liquid from about march/april - sep/oct( but it has been a funny one in sydney this year as you know so that didnt apply this year) Get a pot( terracotta is best)around the same size of the loph and some nice pumice and keep it dry over the winter. Its just too cold for any soil to dry out in open weather at the moment in sydney. Also mate as its not in a light box it cant be fungus gnats as it just too cold! Cheers B

Sand flies could be fungus gnats. If so the larvae eat the roots and will kill the plant. Is the plant in high humidity? If it is well watered that i would bet my lefty on the above. If has been dry for a while it could be and most likely is lack of water and the purple is from stress hot, cold, to much or not enough water or to much light? Lophs will often flower once watered after shrinking. Shrinking wont hurt the plant in fact its part or a normal life cycle in the wild.

Yeah Bedospines is onto it. Pretty common astro clone. Moonunit when i bought the boultwood clone from you... You said there was only one other with it and that would have been 6-9 months ago. It grows like a madman and is fat as so i can see why it would be good grafting stock. I really love it mate so cheers for getting it around. Noice!! Clone mate well worth spreading!! Mostly single spine and never bigger than about 10-15mm mid to top spineless . ^^ ^^ Charli( l love this plant) Charli Cv. Boultwood Very pach looking. But the older areoles look like their is somthing else in the mix. You cant see it very well in the last photo but it has a unique bump on the areole. ^^^^ ^^^ Have a cracker weekend friends B

Gday ladies and gents I am donating 5 x sets of some of my tricho hybrids for the year. The seeds were either grown and crossed or picked by me personally over the last 15/16 flowering season. Some are unique others not so much but are all fresh and i have had no problems germinating any of them... and all have been tested. The way this is going to work is that i will donate the seeds to SAB and hopefully you will bid on them. All of the proceeds will be donated to the SAB fund for running the site. You will have to send me a screen shot of the remittance or some other confirmation that that comes via Moderators or Torsten. I will cover the postage. This is most definitely open world wide. The top bidder will also get a bottle of my fermented chilli and paw paw sauce, some of my home made sauerkraut and a grafted variegated scop x red grandi seedling from zelly seeds( please note this will be sent at your own risk and will be declared in truth so you can choose to donate this to someone else if you think you wont receive it in your country but if you have questions discuss it with me though pm please).I have a few so i will provide the amount of variegation that is desired by your heart? i.e You get to choose whether it is fully variegated, 50/50 or just partially. Bb scop is a 25-30 year old very hard grown spineless scop owned by a mate of mine that lives in bondi who’s nickname is bird. The only clone you should not be able to find through searching is Jims Special... Jims Special is a clone from cactus country that i got by mistake as Jim supposedly wasn't giving any out yet. Jim explained that is was one of his favorite plants and it only pups from the base, it is nice and fat and has a very glaucous bloom on it. Hes son gave me the clone but it wasn't until the next time i went down there and tried to get another one that i found out Jim didn't want to give it out yet. Anyway i love it!!! It is without doubt a hybrid but i would put it in the pachanoi/short spined peru category myself. Very much the same consistently stumpy spination as boultwood or super pedro and the unmistakable felty/hairy areoles of a peru with a bit of blue splashed on. Jims Special in my garden and mother plant.... By all means ask any questions that need to be asked and lets raise some money for SAB Top five bidders will get the five packs and the top bidder will take out the single extra prize plus seeds. Well done Terrapin apart from the awesome seed crosses... I would give my lefty for a bit of funkoid and boultwould would be one of the top 3 in my garden without doubt. I honestly think it grows quicker than psycho0 in my garden and considering the girth thats a mean feat. You got a bargin there bro.. Best part is you helped the site.
