my camera was on the wrong setting. but flower has now opened.
  5. what varieties of loph seeds have you grown and which ones would you reccomend and why? ie i have found cardona to produce larger seedlings than the 2 other varieties i have grown. also i am looking to buy 100 seeds and want to find someone else to also buy 100 seeds of diff variety and we can trade 50 witheach other to get 2 lots of 50 seeds but still get the good price of 100. who keen?
  6. this is one of my origional 3 lophs bought from SAB a few years ago. 1 i left ungrafted and is doing nicely. the other two were grafted but i lost one to rot recently. an infection started on a crease on the top of it and spread deep into the core real quick. the last one recently got some mild infections in the creases of withered skin at the bottom in 3 places. i pealed off the skin over the infections so it could dry andit did and the spread stopped. but now one of the spots looked like it cracked as it has grown and stretched and now there is a healthy overhang of flesh over it, thus shading the area. i am worried that if the infection flares up again that it will rip through the whole thing killing it. any tips on how to clean or sterilise that patch or how to provide systemic protection from disease? i really dont want to loose this one like the last. btw i have lost a couple of other caespitoe grafts in the last few months too but they arent important. also you can see on the trich stock that there is some sort of superficial infection on the skin that doesnt seem to cause any problems as far as i can tell.
  7. the rot has been dormant for a few weeks now and am looking for a non surgical solution. i performed surgury on her sister but it spread so quick and no amount of chopping could save her. others have also died after surgery too. dont really want to risk cutting out the rot on this one unless it flares up. dont want to expose any open flesh to possible infection.

anyone else got any flowers yet? my largest cardona graft has one starting and the second cardona graft is only a few weeks away.
  9. am going to order myself some seeds next week. if anyone wants to chip in or order and trade let me know. will be mainly ordering through earthalchemy as they are in aus and will deliver. cactus-seeds.com didnt reply to my email, and i noticed their policy on mesc containing varieties seeds didnt allow for my intended order.

mine had all slowed down for a month as i went back to just the hpw 250W light as the MH kept flicking off the clipsal switch. tried it again last week and it isnt doing it anymore (still buzzing hell loud though) so am back to the 250W MH plus 250W HPS. they seem to have started to grow again. here are 2 pics of my best 2 by far. a cardona with pup and a texana with pup.

    A new face on profit.

i guess you dont have to watch a loved one suffering from this incurable disease. looks like a great step foward in the development of a cure.
  13. cool, thanks. better prices than earth alchemy.
  14. can someone please give me a link to where i can buy mixed seed. im sick of searching and it has been a real shit of a day.
  15. yeah only reasons i want to get "named variations" is to maintain genetic diversity for conservation reasons and in a hope that one will be more suited to my growing conditions than others.
  16. planning on buying seed soon. who's in? between 2 to 5 people would be good got a website for koehlers? was planning on buying from earthalchemy (spelling?) as have had good results from them before

    Growing Cacti Indoors Through Winter

if its too cool then add more lights to warm them up. it benefits them in two ways.
  24. a few pics of tbm and bridgesii grafted onto pachanoi. was grafted in early summer i think or maybe spring. check out how fat the new pups are on the tbm compared to those that were grafted on initially.
  25. easier to graft than lophs i'd say.
