I second that salvia snuff Is surprisingly active, in every way. when still legal, pulverizing sally by hand and maybe mortar and pestil (cant remember) would once send me breaking thru although the material being pulverized, was halve a body lengh away from my nose...
some authors wrote, "it's amazing how those Indians found out about the properties of this plant", that's bs copied from other bs authors, just moving through a salvia thicket, one would notice what this plant can do. or as another example what dried up fallen mitragyna leaves will do for you if you run the lawn mover over them.
makes me think one recipe could utilize this plant, as snuff...

update!
the iboga seeds are all, allocated now, and I will send those 3 lot's out once they are fully ripe, which will be very soon.
psychotria seeds are still left, lot's of the common strain (forgot the name) and very few of a strain called moon.
rifat still available, I've been told those seeds can produce red veined leaves, but don't know if it's true.
heima salicifolia seeds, nobody wanted, hehehe.
I will delete all messages after we are done, and expect the same from all the other participants, cheers.

I have gone through the messages, and there is still one spot left.

Actually, Nicotiana megalosiphon is your best bet based on the location.
I think you are right, as the excelsior seems to be only endemic to the heart of oz.
for me excelsior and megalosiphon look alike...
but than according to location charts regarding the freshie, it ought not to be at that location either, but it is!
btw, wiki said the crocodylus johnstonii, specimen was not described for 100 years. the native police constable which produced the specimen, still gets coned by the sources as the call it crocdylus johnsoni, they still try to get aboriginal people the wrong side of the spoon..., make me sad.
and most freshwater crocodile sites spell even the false name wrong, in latin there is no single I, at an ending, it's always ii!!!!!!!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freshwater_crocodile
sorry for the side track, but I mentioned the crocs at the opening post.

ok, I waited till now to reply to your pm's, to give late comers an equal chance.
I got 6 fruits, but some of them are small.
I decided to split them into more lots, meaning 3 or even 4 lots, so that more people can have a go.

I second everything glaukus said, but even if you loose the crest with one cutting, an other cutting will maybe even look better than the mother plant!
when my crest, went "normal" again, they produced a single column at the base and than, branched into three columns.
in short something which looks very cool as well.
as well you can pm me for some crested material, I want to reduce my collection.

member teamwhy has id'd the plant at the gallery as Nicotiana excelsior!
haven't had time to find out it's properties or if it's native.
Hanrahan is in qld, and the river you see is the Fitzroy, which runs through Rockhampton.
hd, I managed to upload without resizing to the gallery, will do as you suggest, if I have to upload pics in my posts!

I haven't read the link sagi gave sorry, but I say, a plant I cared for ( the most common strain) was moved to an excellent climate (and country), set seed there, and the seeds germinated, without any fancy input!! this location I think closly resembles sallies home turf, hope that helps.
what sieberts claimed is incorrect...

let's hope I manage the upload (i'm not a good pc clicker).
I went to one of my magic places yesterday (Hanrahan) and could not find any crocodylus johnstonii tracks, as I spotted them before.
but I spotted, what me thinks, is one of the native Tabaco.
maybe somebody can help to id, thx.
dam, I jinxed myself, says failure to upload...
my pic has 5.7mb, do I have to reduce the size?
thought improofed software no need to do this.
pls help, if you can.
ok, I can upload to chill gallery, so I will try to upload to native plants gallery, sorry for the mess (said with Hahn solos voice).

I've grown them from cuttings a couple times over the years. Awesome species of hoya.
They are tough plants but don't over water them when young. Their soil needs to be free draining and loamy. I'd say African violet mix could be pretty good for them. Actually start with African violet mix and add a couple hand fulls of regular crusher dust, and a couple handfulls of coconut coir chunks and you'll have a ripper hoya Australis mix.
cheers, hd, once they are big enough they will be planted out in the garden and in the wild.
in my pipedreams, I might even collect seeds one time.
the plant mentioned in my garden, definitely was taken from the wild, I guess.

some really good info in this thread. When i was saying organic i meant without the use of chemical fertilisers in mixes and such.
Thanks everyone for your inputs
i like the word organic as well, and for example rather use an "organic" approach, than "harsh chemicals".
but, my above written sentence makes me, a hypocrite, hehe.
to clear this up, from my viewpoint, I prefer urine, to nitrogen produced, by chemical means. but unfortunately a farmer, doesn't produce enough urine with his family, to nurture hie/her crops! saying this reminds me of many threads here @ sab that have, had a similar focus as the topic starter.
please, lovly people, try to use the search engine, because there is a wealth of info regarding this topic already here @ sab!!
don't get me wrong and think we don't want people to start new thread about an old topic, we love new threads!
some people much smarter than us, have plans to save all our urine, via new pluming features, so maybe, at one time farmers can use "organic fertilizers".
I might add that, even the most expensive ferts, are not complete, but animal manures and urine, do the job.
for example phosporous, the first element discovered, by humans, and how? by extracting urine!!!!
than stupid, and greedy people discovered how to get it by mining,
and this methode is not carbon friendly.
I support the view, that maybe there is a difference, say if you synthicize ephedrine, or get it from nature, but we haven't discovered yet, what it could be,
my guess is, it could be going towards string theory.

when I moved 15 years ago, to the town where I live, I encountered a massive wax flower plant localy.
as well the place I purchased, had a large native wax flower growing, it displayed 50 flowers or more!
but the place wasn't cared for, fore many years, and one time, whilst cutting the very large grasses down, I killed the plant by accident.
over 10 years or more, I tried to find that plant again, but had no success.
all I got was, scratches over my legs, and enormous pain from the spear grass, hehe....
a week ago, guided by the lil voice in my head, I found another specimen!
further searches in that area, gave no results, just more of the pain, as mentioned above, and I could not score any sock protectors anywhere.
this plant alone will give me plenty of work to do, and I plan to help this, plant...
it's one of australias nicest flowers.
sorry, for the spelling, i'm mildly dyslexic.

hi!
I can give away a few of those seeds.
1st australiens held them in highest regard, used for making shields (lightweight, and absorbs impact). timber light as balsa wood for model making.
seeds and other parts used to make sedative portions (same as the south American cousin of this tree), as well used for ornamental properties on weapons an spiritual & magic purposes!

organic, is just a word, the molecules, would look the same regardless of how they were manufactured.
very important is though, to use the right mix for the specific plant. some plant need high drainage, some low.
some need lots of fert, some not. some plant like acid soil, some like alkaline.
I use a lot of 100% worm castings, no lime added.

not a good idea anyway, the leaves of this plant don't process well.
much better to use bark, or even the leaves of the grass, hehe.
but sure it can be done, with ease...

oh, now I remember, I got psychotria viridis (two different strains) seeds as well to give away for free!

a jolly welcome to you!
I got 5 or 6 iboga fruits to give away, and will split them into two lots.
they are just starting to get yellow. I do get frosts at my place, but hope the seeds would still be ok.
I don't know if those seeds get damaged by frost, but guess, it's unlikely, because my plants even survived ground frosts.
as well a large amount of heimia salicifolia seeds {(please read planthelpers thread named heimia x- talls using only water) or similar name}, and very likely rifat clone seeds!!
the rifat seed pods I will not dissect, but chances are, you will find seeds.
the iboga seeds, I will only give to people with the right setup and experience, and the promise that you have studied torstens manuals. (:
you have to convince me, either by replying to this thread, or privat message that you are the right person for this job.
I will pay postage.
ph/wc bashers need not apply.
have a good one.

if mono cultural land, bee's can bee, bee_nifical.
not at me place, though...
-
sorry to say, I don't like those bee's!
they compete with native bees & insects for food,
honey bee's are bullie's
compared to native bee's,
and not as good pollinators!!

zyprexa & co no good at times
in Pharmacology, Chemistry & Medicine
Posted · Edited by withdrawl clinic
when I woke up this morning, I said, I might write something about Zyprexa and similar medications.
a bit later and by conincidence, I was informed about the passing, of a girl I knew.
sorry the spelling, i'm mildly dyslexic.
this is not a hate post, against valium, lithium, Zyprexa and co, if it works for you, congratulations, but they have never worked for me.
I have spoken to quite a few people, about those pills, and now I speak out, and say as follows.
lithium, can make you do silly things, like risk taking, or even manic masturbation.
valium, is so addictive, binging on it is common practice.
Zyprexa doesn't stabilize your mood, but can make you suizidal.
I said to my doctor, why to you give this girl Zyprexa, I know she's an alcoholic like me, and you should never, mix those for mentioned drugs with alcohol.
a few days ago I had my teeth fixed, and bonded with a very phat guy in a mobility scooter, in the waiting room.
he said, i'm a brick layer, last worked 2009, than a spider bit me, and i had complications, bla bla bla, they gave me Zyprexa and it made me suizid.
so they tried 3 more drugs on me, and now I am on one that is "easier" on me.
he said all those drugs they give me, made me eat a lot, and now he has health issues because of his weight (I estimated him 160kg).
sleep apnia, and of course some docs, gave him drugs which could have killed him, because of his apnea.
a gastric band was fitted to him, and he did loose 35 kg he told. this is quite a dangerous operation I might add, and he needed it because of the drugs that making him fat.
he said 3 of the anti psychotics made him very suizidal, so they kept trying different ones on him.
now I have used Zyprexa many times when I withdrawl myself from alcohol and weed, as a sleeping pill.
and you guessed it it made me suzidal out of nowhere!!
I believe that when I withdrawl myself the actions I take are very smart, I use many different sleeping aids, for example one day temazepam, than a night without pill, than stillnox, than Zyprexa, so I never get my body used to any of them. I even would recommend anti hystamins which make you drowsy, but expect to be still drowsy next mornig, so no car and machinery.
I got to know a few doctors which gave "benzos" to alcoholis, my first girlfriend died from it,
and my brother.
mixing those is quite popular, as it's legal. we need drug reform, mixing weed with alcohol is not a good idea either, but no deadly.
benzos, stop the alcohol from unfolding it's usual power to a strong degree, other drugs like uppers as well, and as such don't mix them!
many doctors don't know all of this, they are convinced there drugs are good and weed and alcohol are bad, but the opposite is true.
alcohol is an excellent anxiolytic , far far saver than vallium, and it's addictive potential is as well much less than that of benzos.
if you start taking valium for 14 days, you are badly hooked.
if you start drinking for 14 days, you are not hooked, but alcohol (god bachus) would even avoid you from achiving this goal.
WORK IN PROGRESS, I am exhausted now.
will continue...
