I think as far as maturity time its relative to breed/genetics. The Giants and mammoths grow for 12 weeks.. growth either in head size or height depending on phenotype. There are early flowering types as shot as 50 days. But like you say environment and conditions are going to play a big part. I really want these to go 4 metres, which isn't that big an ask from where they are at currently. It is storm season though so you never know a good strong wind would probably flatten the lot.

4th of December. These will be 60 days since germination on Friday. I have been told by the Victorian record holder they will grow for almost 100 days. So far the tallest one is 3 metres he recons I might be in a chance with a record, so I have gone into a gardening frenzy ... I must grow these plants stupidly tall lol . I have built this dangerous bamboo trellis much to the disgust of my neighbour but I think its quiet charming and just top dressed the bed with mushroom compost and rooster booster, every second day I am foliar fertilising. Will keep you posted

I think that is a sad TBM . it will probably pup new healthy segments when it warms up.

Anyone grown any of this species from seed? Really beautiful plant. I was given three seeds of a Lotus plant, not sure what colour flower. Did a bit of reading, hopefully the will germinate.

^I've watched this he's great. I too want to grow a 1400 pound pumpkin one day. Mines 500 pounds and looks so small because I know how big they can get. I have serious pumpkin envy lol.

that's a big pumpkin

I've put this one up before but probably my favourite. Sickly, slow and frustrating thing but its still alive and starting to get some colours not sure if it will stay mutated or end up only variegated? when I first grafted it was pink and had no singular growth point. Hopefully I can keep it alive for a bit longer

I'm on the boat idea. I just need it to get bigger so I can fit in the bugger lol. I was thinking a local charity. maybe for MS or cystic fibrosis. I have a couple people to talk to. I thought maybe do laps in a pool and every metre people donate a certain amount or something my boss wants me to take it out in the bay but I think I will drown lol..

Gilligan mines in the shape of a bean bag already.

I agree, not sure what the neighbours think..

I'm not sure if these are self fertile, as I only have the one open I'll try and self it.
-
yeah but the back 3rd is mine to mess around with.

not sure why that photo came out sideways? see how it has malformed petals? I think this seed was supposed to be the "rose" flowered type, obviously not particularly stable gene. Really vigorous plant but is pushing another two flowers while everything else is just growing leaves.

A little bit of everything here Tripsis lol.
