yeah mate the powdery mildew is hammering me. Might go 150 to 200 kg. I reckon I need to water it more, has been really hot here again.

Nice one WB love the head gear. Here's my Ekka pumpkin 35 days. Its slow and steady not going to be a monster but should be a pretty good one I have another fruit on this vine so will have two to take to the comp in May This one taps about 80 to 90kg. Should start banging on the weight the next fortnight or so.

Many pc pach hybrids I have seen develop very large spines almost what you would consider "cuzcoesque". This is just something I have noticed, which may add weight to the idea that the pc pach is actually a hybrid in itself. there's that article trout wrote on pc Pach hybrids with interesting pics somewhere on the web its worth looking at. Not saying this isn't a pc hybrid just something I have noticed in my own experience.

my first one taped at 260kg but was probably more like 240kg which is 530 pounds. I hope this one gets as big, Waterboy thats got such a wild shape to it looking healthy I reckon it will keep growing as long as the vine does.

Expressions of interest. Various seedlings from 15 to 20cm various clone name hybrids most seed from PD so think Psycho0, J3, Rosei#1 and JB healthy plants all around 2 years old. 50c a cm. about 23 days looking good so far but its been drizzly weather and the powdery mildew is looming.

OK lets start at these Psycho0 open pollinated 10 plants Rosei #1 x Fields pach 5 plants J3 Open pollinated 10 plants Super pedro open pollinated 10 plants JB open pollinated 10 plants All these seedlings are between 15 and 30cm asking 50c a cm and what ever postage is. If in Brisbane pick up is ok too. Have some bigger seedling too but will maybe sell them when all the little ones are moved. I probably have a few more of all of the above but lets start with this. I'll take a couple pics and post a list this arvo since there is a fair bit of interest.

Used a lot of Plant of health products gone all organic used some myco products in the soil too, regular foliar spraying but gave it a hell of a lot more water so far and a greater prepared bed so have a bigger buried vine root mass to pull from.

as you can see a bit of powdery mildew is going to stitch me up a bit but I hope the vine will mostly hold up.

Looking good WB this ones growing here, 20 day I reckon it will go big as the Vine if frigging mammoth, the key is the size of the vine behind the pumpkin not in front I have read to let the secondaries behind the pumpkin go wild. and bury and water. Some pics

philocacti I used really large rubber bands was not easy all the grafst were very small button pups forced using bap so I didn't have a great deal of height to make them all "wobbly". Mutant I use sugarcane mulch or lucern to help supress weeds and help reduce evaporation on all my gardens.

That plant is a cracker the photo doesn't do it justice has black and red spines. really chunky its still on peres graft that I have buried trying to get it to throw its own roots.

Its been a long time since I updated these are some of my degrafted cacti in the ground also some freaks and bits and pieces. All the cacti I grew from seed, a lot coming from PD oldest would be 2 years just,they are truly incredibly fast growing and seem to like my conditions in SEQLD. JB open pollinated these have never been grafted heaps of variation in these seedlings. One of the sacred succulents peruvianus from memory sso2 x sso1 I'll have to check. J3 open pollinated My favourite seedlings from PD very fat and very vigorous Rosei 1 x fields pach JB open pollinated in the ground Psycho0 x spachianus albino grafts J3op crest own roots (SS02 x SS01) f2 crest (I think I lost the tag) TBM going long

Nice one, I'm back, this is my Ekka grow, I'm keeping 2 pumpkins on hedging my bet, I'll probably regret it but I want to make sure I have something on in the end. 8 days old, I have a good feeling about this one.

Comes out of a 318kg line from a grower in Victorian, has some big pedigree but will see how it goes here, already seeing signs of powdery mildew so that's a concern, I am watering this one a bit harder so I think I will see some solid growth.

Here it is starting to set some good female flowers first one had seed in the blossom but hopefully the next will be OK .

almost ready to set another pumpkin on the May Ekka weigh off. Its a big plant this time. My photobucket account seems to have shit its self so once I work that out I will put some pics up.

that's a ugly pumpkin so what seed these come out of or is it a secret? I want zee seeds I'll do a swapsy if you like

Best growth is supposed to be day 40 to 50 so could be a real beast in the end.

do jap quail instead buy an egg incubator and do some research good turn around plus delicious eggs. They are incredibly placid animals and don't squeal when you kill them like bunnys.
