SST is a truly excellent book ; the only other that comes anywhere near it is Tihkal . But as far as useful and practical info for those interested in the subject , SST makes Tihkal look pretty lame indeed . Truthfully , : " more than you need to know ".... [ sometime in the future it will be a sought after classic , for sure Those interested ought buy a copy - they will never regret doing so ] .

Long , long ago friends and I used to enjoy dropping acid and going to see 2001 Space Oddity .... I thought the Beatles films were crap [ and so did they ]... I think Frank Sinatra played a junkie drummer in " The Man with the Golden Arm " ....

During the 1960s and early '70s my dad and uncle [ a local farmer ] were friends with an old Swiss hermit[ [ Andre ] who was living in the hills north of Bairnsdale . I recall he had a really cool shack , and grew or caught his own food , not stealing anything at all . Never saw a doctor , and was said to pull his own teeth out when necessary - one tough old guy indeed . He spent a lot of time prospecting , and was said to have found much gold . I remember him showing me a coffee jar of gold that was so heavy I could barely lift it .... Eventually some authorities went out and kidnapped him , and put him in a nursing home in his old age ....

The Great Global Warming/Cooling Thread Part 2
Heretic replied to Evil Genius's topic in Chill Space
I believe that it was the advent of electricity that was the beginning of the modern global problems . Everything seems to have begun snowballing from then on - technology and industry have gone ballistic , the global populations have exploded , and the resulting pollution is creating untold problems including global warming .... . Now it seems that we are caught in an inescapable trap of our own making that in the foreseeable future is unlikely to improve at all . ... Seems to me that we must somehow reduce populations , consumption of resources , and pressures on the environment . .... But at present this appears to be an unattainable goal . I have no idea how we might be able to extricate ourselves from this mess of our own making - my guess is the Earth will do it for us sooner or later .... -
I'm gobsmacked . What do you reckon is going on ? Illusion ?.....

He levitates , and pulls off other amazing things - the phone in a bottle is one my faves . He's got a website with lots of impressive feats .... He changed the juice in unopened coconuts into coffee and fruit juice [ probably can change water into wine too ] .... but walking on water gets my vote - not original , but very impressive nevertheless [ hope they don't nail him up ]...

The older literature states that there are only 2 species : L . Williamsii and L . Diffusa . I believe , as Sally D says , L Koehresi was bred in Europe and is some sort of hybrid . However I think the genus was reviwed to include L . Fricci as a sparate naturally occurring species . I don't know about the more recently described species such as L . Jourdania , etc , . But , if l. Williamsi v caespitosa [ and others ] breed true , would that not also mean they are separate species ?

I wish I still had material from a Pach [ PC ? ] that I scored from the Gardenworld dump many years ago - the most potent trich that I have encountered ; better than anything I have now , inc all my notorious named clones ... -

I have just watched an old but very disturbing movie called Chapter 27 . It is about the loser who shot John Lennon . I remember seeing the news on a newspaper bill- board , and the paper sellers calling out , as they did in those days . The entire city [ Melbourne ] seemed to be in shock ... I was working at the Grainstore night club at the time , and it was a really quiet and subdued evening - nobody was partying that night ... seeing this movie has caused me to realize that celebrity can have its drawbacks ; not only do they have to cope with paparazzi and stalkers , but there might be some nut out there waiting to kill you ....

You have an enormous number of unstudied plants to look at ... I suspect that because of the extreme seasonal climatic variation [ between the wet and dry seasons ] you may have to test at different times of the year . I feel that the NT acacias are so far overlooked because of a few negative reports , but may in fact eventually prove to be very interesting indeed ....be sure to post any results [ + or - ] .

I had always believed DMT was restricted to the Julies , but recent info coming in on Nexus suggests otherwise . I doubt , however , that aboriginal people knew of , or had the technology to obtain DMT . I am more inclined to suspect that if any psychedelics were used , it would have been Australian psylocybe species , but I have not heard of any such use either ...

I tried pouring on hot water , and letting them soak overnight , and some germinated . Then I read elsewhere here to boil for several minutes [ Phyllode's tek ] ; and it seemed to me it would cook them .... Nevertheless , last time I tried , I simmered them for about 3 minutes and soaked - nearly all fired !
