Yes the crank attaches to the shield either directly or indirectly via clutches and a flywheel. I would also like to see counter weights worked into the design.

If it was possible , I wonder if you could move the shield with light, like those black and white fans in a jar.

Ah, I like the idea of the vacuum fan. May not be required if the motor is over unity and has enough to draw from aswell as rotate the shield. I like the idea man, when are you going to make one? :D
