interbeing Posted April 4, 2011 Thanks peeps, this cut came from Fields farm, would have loved one a bit bigger but the plant is huge and pretty tough to get a nice cut a few meters up without a couple of extra people helping, may be next time. Quote Link to comment
tripsis Posted April 4, 2011 That is a really nice cactus. What's the one in the background with all the basal pups? Quote Link to comment
CβL Posted April 5, 2011 This looks like the "Terscheckii" short spine that I have: If yours is indeed a Validus, then I'd say mine is probably too. Does that look to be the case? Quote Link to comment

Really hard to tell ATM, could be, is that a rooted cutting or seed grown? might have to give it a few years to be sure Quote Link to comment
CβL Posted April 5, 2011 It's seed grown. But I have had the privilege of seeing much older plants, and they matched your Validus even more closely (i.e. longer, darker spines). Quote Link to comment
tripsis Posted April 5, 2011 I thought it might be. That basal pupping is crazy! Did you induce it or is it natural? 1 Quote Link to comment
interbeing Posted April 5, 2011 Nah all natural, most of the plants that are in the ground have thrown pups this season. Quote Link to comment
tripsis Posted April 5, 2011 That's awesome man. Can you take a pic of the pupping? Quote Link to comment
