Psychotria Viridis Albino Growth

MeanGreen

So my chacruna has been putting out these snow white leaves for the past couple months. It's most likely because my lamps were on 24/7 for a month, but my other psychotrias (nexus, alba, colorata) didn't do the same

Looks pretty cool but if it's not genetics, and it most likely isn't, I hope it'll revert soon.

is aeroponic a bad way for colorata ? my cuttings are rotting fast in there

and wow so that's what happens when 24/7 light is maintained.. I gave up for energy usage costs but also noticed that 24/7 light defo makes em grow more not long ago.

Yeah I tried rooting viridis leaves in aero a couple times and they rotted both times so I guess it's the same for colorata.

Best bet is coco inside a ziploc or mini greenhouse imo. It doesn't contam easily, holds moisture well and still is well aerated. I've had 100% rooting on a dozen or so leaves this way.

kinda odd and non-uniform then aero is perhaps? ... I had viridis in aero for over a year and only recently potted into soil ..

I wonder what the key was .. i can post some nutes if ever you wanna try .. might be my hard tap water?

or old aquarium water added..

I wonder what specific limitation colorata is experiencing that viridis and so far nexus and alba aren't in my pod.

I'm sure aero or even hydro is amazing for established plants, but I guess it's not sterile enough for rooting leaves, a leaf on its own must have a weak immune system I guess.

Are your colorata cuttings leaves or stem?

Definitely interested in knowing what type of npk ratio you gave your psychotria, I might try to put some in dwc sometime.

leaf and I dont know its just called hydroponic fert A and B and it's from that place that makes the rainforest box propogator/adjustable height thing .. greenhousesensation.co.uk

I will see if they'll tell me if there's somewhere to ask. - there's a phone number so will ring them during open times.

DWC sounds interesting and I reckon viridis might enjoy that.. 'pretty sure I may have already been told or read it but forgot who or where.

Thanks mate I'll take a look on their website, but I'm guessing it's some cannabis type hydro ferts, mine also come in A and B but there's the A/B for veg (N heavy) and the A/B for bloom (PK heavy).

http://www.greenhousesensation.co.uk/hydroponic-planter-nutrients.html

doesnt seem to say but it has a question facility so I fired one in asking the npk of aeropod nutrient

also , a lot of the time I forgot to nute feed .. dnno if it was key but viridis wouldn't live in the aquarium for long like with the aeropod which was strange at the time... maybe there's some sort of bio or sanitizer added?

Thanks brother. How powerful was your airpump for the aquarium? Could also be it didn't have enough dissolved oxygen in the aquarium water for its liking maybe, DO is key for hydro and is obviously not an issue with aero.

Could also maybe be because hydro nutes usually have PH buffers in them that balance the ph, and plants are way more sensitive to ph changes in hydro because soil acts as a buffer as well. So if you didn't add nutes or ph'd the water mahbe that's why it didn't enjoy the aquarium? dunno

the fish aquarium / fishtank .. I tried to get viridis growing as a water's edge plant on a cork island in there and it worked for a bit .. so tried rooting cuttings in there .. and it was starting to work but the filter's powerhead was swishing them about all the time like a washing machine lol .. and gave up in the end.

the old powerhead back then was 600Lph

the reservoir for the aeropod has a pump but I don't know it's Lph rate
