is to send the people back to their own country and force the boats back

why would you allow those who will abandon their own country

e.g.

most are just desperate to get here not for any other reason, most leave a country that has accepted them as immigrants

I think it fits under ethical living and is a good discussion.
It wont stop it but will deter yes and I agree if it continues it may cause problems.
What shits me about most of the problems we face its always an A or B option, never a C or D.
I wish every one that had a strong view on the topic would spend the time addressing the issue together of WHY are they fleeing first, there mabey a bigger issue.
Then look for the C&D options.

The media and government always seem to only offer two resolutions.
The Hendra Disease! Move? or Cull? Are their really no other options.

Most boats that come here are full of mostly legitimate refugees not 'illegal imigrants'.

Immigration is a much broader topic than illegal immigrants. Not much you can do about it now, it's highly political, the MSM will not address it and most people don't even care or understand about the long term implications of preserving or mixing cultures and race. 'We're all one big happy family' 'we're all the same' blah blah blah, politically correct but niave rhetoric. Illegal immigrants are ultimately small fish in relation to the broader trend of whats happening as overindustrialized 1st world countries slowly dillute into overpopulated 3rd world countries, except for places like China or Israel which have a priority towards being racially homogenous.

One thing to consider is that no person (like no plant species) should ever be labelled 'illegal'.

See once again you should educate yourself a little 1st.

We do not have freedom of speech in australia. We have some of the harshest anti sedition laws in the western world.

the genuine % off legitimate refugees and 'illegal imigrants' on the boats is not known so i dont see your logic either
they can apply for refugee status, most of them throw documents away and no genuine idea can be ascertained

if you loose control of immigration you end up as a 3rd world country also

my opinion is border protection needs more funding
