From reading my old posts, I think this might actually be red strain. I have to dig up the tag and have a look.

A very neglected plant, seems to enjoy the neglect, the 2 I have babied are dead. This one has like 1/8th of it's cambium, layer left, the rest chewed off by rats and is still going strong.

It has to be moved soon, so I will chop it off and propagate as many as I can. Any hints as to which way works best for these would be appreciated. I've only had tip cuttings strike and semi hardwood ones never seem to. I will put the cuttings under 18/6 flouro's in warm, humid grow tub usually used for cacti grafts.

Yes, yes B.cappi. they are deff only showing themselves to u and only u. I'm sure they'd even tell u themselves if u payed them too. :P

P.S. I'm well south of perth and it's fugging cold down here lately. deff far colder than perth. This is the 3rd winter outside for this plant, first 2 it died back mostly in winter and reshot in spring, this winter it has not died back considerably as yet.

oh, and the photo is misleading, the greenhouse is not enclosed with plastic behind me, it is shadecloth for 2/3rd's of the shade/greenhouse. There is deff a microclimate in there, but not anywhere near as much as if it were fully enclosed. I plan to recover that greenhouse entirely in plastic when I move it and only have vents at either end for summer. I would think it would grow alot better and fail to die back at all if it were in such a microclimate. It is still in active growth 17 days into winter and with subs fruiting wild just meters away outside the greenhouse. Shaggy maines are still coming up though, so it's obviously not THAT cold. yet.

These should grow shit hot in perth I would think, esp if privided a microclimate like a tree to grow under, up and amongst. Apparently no flouresence under U.V. Guess I should do sum sciency stuff soon and test that one out. Does any1 have a goon microscale UV tek I could run, in like a 50ml flask, few fresh leaves, crush, add I dun, was it acetone and a tinsy drop of acid? I remember eading a tek T did once, long time ago.

Most of the collection has loved it, didn't move far, only 3km's. But better ground here. No winter light though which sux, but ovverall, most things have fared well. Got piper kadsura going nuts. cacti like it, but no hothouse for cappi and no grow room for everything else :( I am adapting and should have a permanent home in ~18months to set everything up I dream of. So it's worth it.

Found the old info, wash dried material with acid (small amount) and test for glow. I figure fresh, simply crushing should be sufficient. I could not find the info where black tested negative. Any1?
