I was hunting medicine and found a population of these critters that I think resemble lilly-of-the-valley but with short stems and more traditional flowers that are red with 3 petals and kind of a floral clove scent. The leaves are thick and leathery and waxy and dull green on both sides. They grow in intense sun on a sandy slope with little water. My instincts screamed medicine. My medicine instincts are usually right (tho the last one was a pro-fertility drug that induces simultaneous vomiting and diarrhea  ) so I'm curious what these guys are.

edit: ok I forgot how the veination in lilly-of-the-valley leaf is, I guess these probably arent close-ish relatives

never have seen anything like it, nice find!

it reminds me a bit of some ground orchids, it would be nice to know if the plant has roots, tubers, or bulbs. if it doesn't grow out of an onion, than we can forget the idea of lilly of the valley relations.
don't resent!
