People usually don't get to ethno forums to socialise in general, but to get info and share.

Most of the people at the nook are there to socialize, very few are there for information exchange.

I know the Nook fairly well, and know a decent amount about many of the people who "contribute" to it. It looks a lot nicer from an outside view than an inside one.

i also disagree with you Arch,

i love the nook and find it a great place, though i mainly hang around the cacti forum.

I guess you havent been on overgrow because then you will see how the nook is not so dramatic, or maybe i just dont see it because nothing dramatic happens in the cacti forum except when GrowDan was around.

Anyway, to each his own, but i have learned almost everything about cacti from the nook and here.

I find both message boards have "mature" tone then any other message board i have visited (which are not that many).

i've seen worse boards as far as drama
deoxy, lyceum, shroomery, mycotopia, entheogendot etc, all less mature than here and the nook
if you hang around the cactus forum at the nook you are in the least dramatic place and a place where the most pretentious and obnoxious nook members are almost entirely missing
it is clearly the best part of that forum, no doubts, though it has had a serious lack of archival work for a long damn time and the mods for that section suck

i believe treating people like a bitch will yield a negative result.
i really dont see why teotz needs to 'change' to fit in line with peoples perception of acceptable behaviour or personality. asides from forum rules of course, which he rarely crosses, sometimes he crosses into the grey area, as alot of us do, but i really think torsten and he have a good relationship, like alot of us do with t, where it is managed, and is one of the reasons why i still respect the shit out of torsten, a man who ive learned SO MUCH from. on many different levels.
im not ass kissing im just trying to speak my perceived truth right now. well actually i should. I know i said some bad things at t in this unfortunate (or fortunate?) forum section, and id just like to yeah man up and publicly apologise.
t has done alot for me. and i can only ever be thankful, if i where to ever live as a decent human being, which is what i want to be.

teotz is a member of this community, who i believe shows a passion and commitment to ethnobotany that many of us overlook, or perhaps are envious of. From my perceived observation of teotz forum interactions as well as interaction with teotz on a more private level,ive come to believe that teotz has a conection with plants and the plants 'spirits' that many of us could only ever dream to possess.

if u ask me teotz IS a plant spirit. i myself have learned alot from him about plants and about myself as well as other human beings, from his passion, and the way that people react to him. The ugly side of human nature does seem to appear often when confronted with teotz. whats most interesting is the most violent, and i mean violent, whether its masked with humour-sarcasm or not, come from people who more often than not, have the same, if not more apparent and hideous, qualities about themselves, concious or not. thats what i find interesting, and worthy of self reflection, if i personally find teotz posts annoying (well i think thats just rude) or stupid (even ruder.) i find it stands out like dogs balls when someone bags the shit out teotz. That the same if not worse qalities are there in themselves. Not that im exempt from these unfortunate qualities as well, which i must own up to. i think its a great method for personal growth. if u find someone who does ting the shit outta you, a bit of self reflection usually indicates that you do it to, but maybee not concious of the behaviour and its effects. Then u become conscious of it, and are able to make changes and choices. Then u start to think, "well maybee that person is not concious it either"

i think toby said it best "everyone is doing the best they can, at that time" i loved that.

i think teotz IS a valuable member of this community. I know that im not the only person who shares this opinion here of teotz.

why would that change my concept of this forum? it changes often. some days i hate it, somedays i love it, somedays i just couldnt be arsed. ive leaned alot from it. from all the characters and knowledge. But to take offence to someone who hates it would just be the biggest waste of my morning milo. im sure torsten wouldnt give a hoop-la, and what i find an admirable quality in teotz is that he doesnt seem to give a fuck either what people say about or to him. He keeps posting. that is an blessing and more than admirable quality in my books.
