LC001 is a T. pachanoi (non-backberg) X T. bridgesii

LC002 is T. bridgesii X T. pachanoi (non-backberg), they were made by Libertycaps of the nook and botswap

The peruvianus is from Horizon Herbs, a US based medicinal herb company.

I got pretty good germination rates from mesa stock too, with the exception of E. polyacanthus

If Gym x Loph crosses really do work you might consider trying G. striglianum if you happen to have one available, of the tested species its alkaloid profile, to me, seemed most promising in terms of biochemical pathways that would mix well with Lophophora. G. riograndense would be next best by my line of reasoning/guessing. Not just mescaline but all those Loph THIQ alkaloids they have as well would sound good crossed with a Loph species.

“Identification of alkaloids of the cactus genus Gymnocalycium”.

Wow, i´ll try to get some of these LC Seeds! These two crosses sound very promising! Btw, i just checked out Horizon herbs and i was suprised that i havent known them yet because they have really good stuff. Goddamit! Even more great stuff on my wantlist! :P

I am going to try almost every Gymnocalycium i can get seed of! This project may take me 5-10 years though as i want to grow them all from seed! I dont like working with cacti that i havent grown myself because i want to make sure that they are pesticide free! Hope you have a little bit time and you´ll still be here in 10 years from now on, eh? We´ll be the Waldorf & Stadler of the Corroboree

Ok, time for a small update! Today the first seedling of Trichocereus Cephalomacrostibas came out! This was very important for me because its the Proof that this seed is still a little bit viable! I hope that more seedlings will follow!

Another one that showed germinations was Trichocereus Peruvianus Pamacoche! I dont know what kind of seed it is but it seems to be sourced from Knize via JL Hudson! Michael, i read in one of your collection lists that you grow this particular form! I assume that its the same seed like yours! Do you have a Picture of it? bye Eg

Update:

Last week i planted some Lophophora and the seeds started to germinate after just two days! So far they have a good germination rate! Most of the Knize seed did not show ANY germinations so i threw in some more seeds of the same type because i dont want to bother with this fucked up seed anymore! I try to germinate as much old seed as possible at once! I planted about 300-400 seeds from Trichocereus Cephalomacrostibas and i only got 2 Seedlings! bye Eg

For now these are the ones coming along ok.

Hi Hunab! Nice pics! Thank you for sharing! I just planted some old ICAOS DNA Seeds that i still had and i cant wait till they are that big!

A few Questions:

The SS01 x ? comes from SS?

Where does the short spined Peruvianus seed come from? Homemade or commercial?

Who is Mongrel? A Community member?

Whats that cactus on the upper right of pic 8?

SS01 is what was on the bag of seeds...they came from a free trades here on SAB..the bag read SS01 X ? ...

The short spined Peruvians came from from a friend who landed me with a bunch of seedlings that where pretty sad and needed some love and care and I've got them going again nicely.

Mongrel is just a slang term for runts or cactus I'm not really happy with..kinda like the ones you really don't think much of...but we'll see give em a couple of seasons and they might look a bit better.

The picture no-8 that is a T Spach in the upper corner..I have posted more pics so you can see better..these are all basically all my young ones...there are tonnes of bridge seedlings all in nice little clumps..I like having them clumped they seem to like being close together...will look great in a few years.... and ones that have been cut and are pupping...as you can see I have tonnes of seedlings and hopefully will have tonnes more for next year...growing from seed is so exciting cause you never really know how they are going to come up and look... :)

Cool Pics Hunab! Thats a nice pot! Be careful that no german Cactus freak comes to Australia and tries to steal it! Or your Totem! Happens all the time!

I could look at cacti all day long! Almost as educatable as porn! Cant wait to see the pics you are going to post in the future! One thing is for sure...you´ll need build your cacti a house! The SS01 x ? comes probably from SS! The "?" means that some of their plants pollinated the SS01 accidentially through the wind and they arent sure who´s the father! Sounds a little bit like an Oprah Talk Show, doesnt it? Thanks for letting me know what Mongrel means! Thats the right word to describe how i look in the early morning! bye Eg

Update! I have some more germinations!

Trichocereus Camarguensis has an excellent germination rate! The best so far! About 150 seedlings in just one container! I still have some seed if somebody wants to trade!

Trichocereus Glaucus! Just one germination but it shows that the seed is viable!

A shitload of Lophophora seedlings! They have a great germination rate!

Suprisingly the Argentinian seeds have good viability! Many seedlings in Trichocereus Terscheckii, Trichocereus Peruvianus & Lophophora!

bye Eg

I 'd love to see you Trichocereus Terscheckii seedlings when they are old/big enough for one to see something, say after 6-8 months...

Hunab I am jealus as fuck.. does this make me a bad person??

Today i planted some more because i had some spare containers with non germinated seeds! The non germinators were: Trichocereus Macrogonus (Argentinian grower), Trichocereus Longispinus and almost all of the Knize seed! No germinations in ANY Trichocereus Validus Container! Very bad seed! Unfortunately the Gymncalycium x Lophophora cross did not germinate either! :-(

One germination in the Dutchies Mac (?) from Australia! 10 germinations of Trichocereus Tacaquirensis, some in all of the Terscheckii conatiners, Peruvianus, full germination in ferrets SCOP seeds container, one more in the Trichocereus Cephalomacrostibas! Full germination the Lophophora Containers!

I planted: Trichocereus Pachanoi Huigra from Kakteen Haage, Scop x ? from Ferret, Pachanoi x ? from Ferret, KK1368 Totorensis, Trichocereus Spec Los Moles, Trichocereus Santiaguensis, Trichocereus Santaensis, Stenocereus Weberii, Trichocereus Brevispinulosus x Juuls/Pach, Trichocereus Bridgesii x Scop, Trichocereus Werdermannianus var. Lecoriensis, Trichocereus Macrogonus, KK242 from knize and some more i forgot! More updates later! bye Eg

First- hello to everyona, its my first post.

Hunab, great cacti :) Now I have one question. 2 years ago I bought T.peruvianus and T.pachanoi seeds from Piltz seed retailer. Now i wonder if the cacti can be potent, or only can by suitable as a grafting stock :)

Hi Che! First of all, dont hijack that thread for a discussion about potency! There are no Potency Discussions allowed here! Second of all, welcome! I hope your second post will be better! bye Eg

I´d like to add one small side note! By letting the seed drying out between the watering cycles, i was able to higher the germination rate of old Knize seed to more than 500 %! This shows how important the drying out process for Knizes shitty seed is! bye Eg

you imply that this drying isnt necessary for fresher seed?

How many have terscheckii plants in here?? I got 7 or so seedlings 8-month-old plus a grafted one on a pereskiopsis, but it has stuck for looooooong time....

Hi Mutant! Most fresh seed has a germination rate of 90% after the first watering cycle! So its not necessary in those cases! Another Drying/watering Cycle might be helpful for the remaining 10 % but this doesnt cover with my experience! Most seed that did not germinate in the first cycle, did not germinate in later ones either! But in the case of this particular Knize seed, the second watering cycle showed more germinations than the first one! I sowed about 500 seeds! The first cycle had 2 germinations while the second had 10! bye Eg

Got the Macro seed from you EG...big hugs dude...and I can't quite read what the other bag say..Echinopsis grandiflorapeppmint Dremocrash...? can you clear that one up for me... :P

Thanks though.... Macrogonus is right up there as being my favourite cactus along with Roseii so these seeds are going straight in and I hope to have a ton of big knarly macro in a few years.

I'm now doing tons of germinating in my studio as it now has the heater on and set 28 degrees and I have tubs of seeds and lights all over the place..things are popping up all over the place and it's bloody freezing outside now that winter is soon to be upon us.

Sowed out last week from Passive:

J3 x Pach

Super Pedro x J3

Psych0 x pach

from another source

20 Loph

and some trichocereus Grandiflora found hiding in an envelope.

Can anyone tell me has anyone seen a TBM flower...do they flower....?... I mean I've never seen one flower I would think seed is never to be found.. then is that the case.

H.

Ok Great! just to clear this up, i sent Hunabs Macro seed out long before and its just a coincidence that i made up the free-macro post later! The shipping of the other seeds will take longer! Dont be concerned guys, they´ll arive! ;-)

lol, i was sure that you wont be able to read that label! I check what it means later! Something like Trichocereus/Grandiflora peppermint Dreams x Crassiciaulis!

(not sure if this is the right place for this post,but...)

ive been offered 1000 of these 3 inch squat pots for $45.they usually retail for $0.55c.so its quite a bargin.my questions are ,are they any good for cactus seed raising?and would they be large enough to support loph's for a few years atleast?
