What did you do to your cacti today?

Recommended Posts

Stood by and watched them and then watch them some more. Moved to the next part of the yard and repeated action.

tried to figure out which one to name "king stobbi"

maybe macro for the serrated like awls ...

or the werdie for the fuck-off massive and brutally thick thorns..

or the taquimbo next to it for much the same reason... certainly wouldn't appreciate one of those to the arsecheek that's for sure..

or the terscheckout those prongze...

*smooths imaginary moustache* hmmm

Looks like that one got overwatered, pinegapcontrol. Desert cacti live in a region of sparse rainfall - their tissues are designed to swell and store water when it is available. But if they get too wet they can absorb too much and split. This happened to a couple of my L williamsii in 2012 - we had a torrential downpour just after they had come out of their winter quarters - 8 inches in one day. But they made a complete recovery - I brushed the split with cinnamon powder and dried the pots out. See pics of now and then.

yeah those snails are fkd, its a bit cool watching them climb up the side of something like a spachianus or a schickendantzii, climbing straight on top of the spines, it must be like a bed of nails...spreading the load.

i do try and avoid poison but sometimes its necessary and some of the "organic" methods are not really practical on a large scale. i always try n look on the bright side and think well at least it never rots.

I put copper foil tape around the pots, snails won't go near it.

today i excited the little green children about some new embryos that have applied to live at the cactory through magickal transglobal processes as part of, erm yeah ...the er... what was it? ...: diversity enrichment programme after the long awaited zilla7 conference held at an undisclosed location at somepoint in somewhere just outside of the proximity and general knowledge bracket of anybody with the exception of the three hares, but not including baldilocks..
