L.Koehressi seed give away

hey guys i have 6 packs of koehressi seeds 100 in each pack up for grabs ....... i havent had any luck with germination with them but this could be due to temps on my side ........ if any one would like to have a go with them im happy to send them to you :lol:

yep, i sowed lasr night indoor, bottom heated, under CFL, in a small tupperware container. Its the takeaway tek, except I find large containers tend to distribute the moisture to the edges unless the soil is sodden, so I prefer using smaller containers.

Soil mix used

-1 part fine sieved seed raising soil mix

-1 part fine sieved pumice (0.5mm - 1mm)

-1 part pumice (2mm)

-1 part spongolite (2mm)

-1 part zeolite (1mm)

The fine soil and fine pumice were mixed together, the pumice acts like sand except its better. The zeolite is rinsed until it stops leaching powder, and then all the components are mixed. Microwave sterilisation, and a thin top layer of the fine sieved pumice is added, as an early barrier to the organics in the substrate, and provide a nice surface for seedlings to sprout on. Seeds sowed on top of this, no covering. This method has worked well for the last batch of Lophophora Texana, I hope it works here.

You find spongolite works well?, I was going to get some.

Spongolite is cheap over here, someone in the CSSWA has a relative who owns an abandoned mine full of spongolite. Its silica so its supposed to help with disease resistance, its light and porous, and it retains healthy amounts of moisture (no to much). I've been using it in my soil mixes and using the smaller particles for seed raising, seems to be working well. Im no expert, but i think its best in a mostly mineral mix. For a more organic mix, the same results (minus the silica disease resistance) could maybe be achieved using coco coir. But in a mineral mix where a more open, larger particle substrate is desired, then i think the spongolite works. Try it out if its not to expensive, all the CSSWA old folks are using it.
