rahli Posted August 9, 2015 Hi there folks, I have a couple of vines dormant in my little green house that require a good home, some love and care. Given that it is the dead of winter down there where most live ?, I can hold onto the vines and post in spring if that suits. I have 2 x mid size Banisteriopsis muricata cuttings plus a small B. muricata and a small Alicia anisopetala. First prize is the largest B. muricata cutting and your pick of either of the small cuttings. 2nd prize is the second largest B. muricata cutting and the other small cutting. This pic shows the vines. The red crosses show the B. muricata vines and the blue cross shows the A. anisopetala. I might also throw in a couple of Brazilian Chacruna cuttings too if folks are interested. THE COMP is only open to folks in Australia as I won't be sending overseas and interestate postage is subject to your state quarantine laws. i will pay for express postage. POST A PHOTO OF YOUR BEST VINE (Ayahuasca vine). Must be your vine and have a cigarette lighter on the base of the main vine stem for scale. Comp finishes next sunday at the time of posting this post. WINNER IS THE POST WITH THE MOST UPVOTES. 2nd is the post with the second most upvotes. you can upvote as many entries as you like but please stop voting this time next sunday once the comp is finished. Good luck and may the best vine win!

zed240 Posted August 10, 2015 This is my little vine. The thick part of the stem is probably about 2 bic lighters in height, (I put the bic on top of the amp, rather than in the pot, whoops...) I'm keeping it indoors at the moment as it's been very cold here and I was afraid due to his size he'd die over winter, I got him late last summer. I hope after this year it will be able to survive outside if the root system gets big enough over the warmer months, I will be putting him in a large pot with something to climb up as soon as the weather improves. I figured the small amount of afternoon sun it gets would be sufficient through winter and so far he seems pretty happy. Hasn't started to look sad through winter yet. I water it once or twice a week. Oh, and ignore the brugmansia cuttings that are rooting in the background.
rahli Posted August 10, 2015 Hey Zed, She sure looks healthy and ready to take off once the warm weather hits.
2XB Posted August 10, 2015 Wow what another great comp rahli !!! Not much to show for my recent interest into Caapi, this is the only one I have in the ground, probably 8 MNTHS OR SO. But she has finally started to hang onto this big jacarandah :-). Ordinarily I'd be embarrassed to show off such a plant, starved of sufficient warmth over winter, but I kicked my self when I didn't submit for your psychotria comp ;-).
toast Posted August 10, 2015 Awesome comp rahli, as usual As Change, Horus will be pretty difficult to beat. I'm posting a few photos of my family of vines that are growing under a Swamp Cypress in my backyard, as I was planning on documenting them anyway. I've got a unknown strain of B. caapi that's been in the ground for almost 6 years & in a pot for probably 3 more, an Alicia anisopetala and a Mansoa allicea (Ajo sacha), both of which went in early last year. The caapi always looks like crap in winter, as it loses its leaves, and only last year I gave up trying to keep it out of the tree. The Alicia and the Ajo Sacha are both growing happily through their first winter. Hopefully the Ajo Sacha grows over the Coffee Bush & onto the Swamp Cypress this season. Front view of the caapi (left) & Alicia (right): Back view of the caapi (right) & Alicia (left): Alicia (left) and Ajo Sacha (right) & sad Coffee Bush!: Base of caapi: Base of Alicia: Base of Ajo Sacha:

tarenna Posted August 14, 2015 Looking good tarrena. How old is your original planting mate? It is over 8 years now in a subtropical lowland rainforest habitat on basalt-derived colluvial soils.. It is the "cielo" strain - from what I understand, thanks Terrence McK and Hawaii... ;-)
