pete34 Posted June 8, 2012 my 2 bob's worth: overheating will probably damage the ram or other parts do the diagnostics as above post/s say and diagnostic devices on ebay for laptops are only $5 to 20 this $5 is a good all rounder http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Motherboard-Diagnostic-Analyzer-Card-Notebook-Laptop-PC-/250618013354?pt=AU_Laptop_Accessories&hash=item3a59ff66aa#ht_4506wt_805 re-install windows, if it will boot to cd chq the fan/heatsink is clear, (google brand/model name how to if not sure) good usb laptop cooler's with 2 fans on ebay for $5 for next laptop i sit it on a lap table, you know those tables with a bean bag bottom to sit on your lap to eat dinner in front of tv best option to save time not $: when it overheated it probably hung and couldnt slow down cpu/hd etc so gets really hot and ram cant handle it get a better laptop on ebay for $300 or so and dont let it hang for too long as they get really hot then, ram is $50 BUT other damaged parts may arrise mb i bet its trying to work out what happened to its memory when turned on, leave it on for 15 to 20 mins it should show a ram error Peter Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
