Jimmy Vtak Posted October 16, 2012 I was wondering why there seemed to be no more activity on the posts I was following, nor replies to PM's, as I wasn't getting any more emails. Then I logged in to SAB and saw that there had in fact had been both. This is strange because I had not made any changes to my SAB settings, and '[email protected]' is definitely still on my safe senders list within hotmail. I have checked my Junk mail folder and there are no SAB emails in there. Has anyone else had this problem? Is it possible that hotmail is just blocking these messsages outright? It's perplexing. ballzac Posted October 16, 2012 yep, same thing happened to me with hotmail. I have had issues with hotmail for a while, with most stuff going to my spam folder even though the domain is in my whitelist. Then it was okay for a while. Then all of a sudden, a couple of days ago, I was getting nothing. I have changed to my work email, but don't really like to use it for anything other than work, so will switch back if hotmail ever get their act together. I'd switch to a new email provider for my personal email, but I've used my hotmail one for years, and it would be a bit of a hassle. I don't see what problem they have understanding the phrase "safe sender".
Jimmy Vtak Posted October 19, 2012 Ok, well it seems there is no obvious fix to this. Thanks anyway folks.
Torsten Posted February 5, 2013 we've doen some major fixes on the server to reduce bounces of forum emails. I ahve just sent a big batch of validation emails and not a single one bounces EXCEPT all of the hotmail/live ones. I am hoping that this has now fixed the problem for all the other email services. gmail had been patchy, but in the last few months got worse and worse. In he new year it started to bounce all validation emails, and hence probably all other forum notifications too. I have not seen a single bounce from gmail, but that is no guarantee that the mail is actually getting through. Can some folks on non hotmail/live services please provide feedback over the next few days. The changes were only made yesterday, so it may take some time for sab to get its email reputation back, but hopefully some of it will be instant. if you comment on this please provide the name of your mail service or write 'ISP' if it is an ISP service or private domain. Amazonian Posted August 26, 2014 (edited) I haven't been receiving email notifications for about a week now, and and i haven't changed anything in my settings. I am using a private email account (not hotmail or gmail) and have checked my spam folders. I use a tablet, phone and laptop and none of them are getting the notifications. It had been working 99% of the time for years on the same email and account settings. I am wondering if there have been any changes Torsten ?. I am also wondering if i re-activate my email account details would that help? Helllppp! please EDIT : I changed my email in my SAB account settings, and went with Gmail, and all is well again...receiving notifications. Torsten Posted September 6, 2014 It's an ongoing problem and nothing I can do much about. It's all about IP reputation and this fluctuates widely. The problem is that many old members or non active members have let their emaila ddresses lapse. So when they get a PM the server sends out a notification, but this then bounces. If a server sends too many like then the reputation drops below a treshold. It can be just one very active member that is enough to tip the balance. I then often try to tidy up a few or to register with various anti-spam validation lists which brings the reputation high enough to be OK for a while.
