A few more pictures from around my garden.

A pic i took earlier this spring. The pot also has orange pigface mixed in but the two never flower together.

nice Deadstar. thanks. how old is the finger lime?

no worries.

I brought the finger lime three years ago at a native nursery. Its a grafted red Rainforest pearl.

I got one fruit last year and hope to get a few more this year.

Its a spiky little bugger and unfortunately the fruit looks like turds hanging in a tree.

"unfortunately the fruit looks like turds hanging in a tree."LOL so, a bit like some of my acacia then

I got one in the ground. and a few in pots. the one in the ground is from herbalistics and is about 2 1/2 years old i suspect (normal rootstock). cant be too sure of it's age though as life has been beyond crazy in that time. it has not yet flowered and i expect it to take many more years. sad really because my "breakfast champion" marmalade calls for them. Along with cinnamon, cardamon pods, kaffer lime leaf and pomello's.

2 cinnamon sticks, 2 cardamon pods, one lime leaf, and one fingerlime to each pomello -) if i recall it right.

made the normal way. adding the fingerlime at the last minute to retain it's awesome texture. try it if you wish. i recon it's bloody good. well, as far as sugary crap goes. it's a treat really. hardly "food".

Thanks Deadstar.

I was going to get a non grafted one initially because the grafted were so expensive but this is one fruit i wanted sooner rather than later :-)

I will definitely pinch your recipe. That sounds yum.

yeah i hear that. i want it sooner too, but oh well.. at least it will be there for the next folks to live here in future.

koolies, feel free to further refine it or play about with it. curious to know what you think of it, and what changes you make to it. we can only but wonder how it might evolve as others modify it to their tastes. i think that's a wonderful thing.

I'd never tasted figs until a few years ago. They are sooooo good when left on the tree until they are almost jam inside the skin

I love figs :drool2:

The fruit on mine is just setting now - I can't wait. Some people don't like them, which I don't understand - they're the fruit of the gods.

Your not wrong about the corn being a thirsty crop. I have pre bonsai that are in much smaller pots that i water less.

No cobs yet. I have found i am a couple of weeks behind inner mebourne and close to a month behind sydney in terms of plants flowering
