42 days since sown, few male flowers starting to appear and a few tendrils. No female flowers yet.

nah Amz ...haven't been polishing my pumpkin...lol

Luck of the draw for genetics that produced a shiny and orange one.

(I think the most purdy....).

Haven't had to sleep in the goathouse yet...lol...I'd probably sleep all spooned up to the pumpkin, rather

than climb into the buck goat stinkin thing :o

^lol eth

nah HB much less this year, put a bit in early pegging the vine down ( use satay sticks...otherwise wind would thrash it to death), then went a big dump of euc bark and sheep shit mix over it to pin it.,mulch it and feed it

Hand watered at first, then just went to a sprinkler. A few foliar hits outta a knapsack with a top secret brew....lol

just about all the vine end terminated of their own choice this year, being a 2nd year clay bed its performed better with a bit of structure instead of being a solid mass ...lol

And yeah I do actually chuck a blanket over it most of the time during the heat, off of a day when cooler then back on late arvo/evening to keep some heat in the fruit (thats the theory anyway). (EDIT - and stop the sun baking the skin hard as so it stretches out better)

will put a tape to it to when Its time to cut the lifeline for a rough weight estimate. Also seriously thinking about doing something "special" with it for you folk...lol

EDIT -weather forecast is for a bit of snow.... I hate snow...."silent death" I call it

Left one 25kg, Right 28kg

I harvested them quite early as the vines starting drying up, might not of been getting enough water. Was my first year growing pumpkins lol

^ good effort franky

whats your seed source mate, they don't look like a pure Atlantic Giant to me.

I know a lot of people that have had issues with ebay seed.

You are welcome to seed outta my effort when it gets opened up :) Also still have a bit of seed from last years (outcrossed that one), but I think this one is better.

The fruit is hand pollinated (selfed) so I know there is no cross pollination with any other curcubits. The maxima group will x breed with just about every curcurbit...... My genetics stash came from a US competition grower originally.

I'm still growing, barely had a few flecks of snow.....

Cheers waterboy,

The 28kg on the right was from "World's Biggest Pumpkin" from Diggers seed stock, the 25kg was from seed stock from a family member, I was under the assumption it was more of a eating pumpkin, but it turned into a giant one maybe I left it too long? lol

Some seed sounds great, as I want a bigger pumpkin next year :D Happy to send some of mine out as well, although I can't guarantee I did not get some cross pollination.

Yeh I believe my vines wern't getting enough water/nutrients, as they died off early jan. But I did also start them off early, as I have a garden bed that is covered with a small poly tunnel.
