New Trichocereus clone competition

Recommended Posts

haha, this is funny. what a fitting way to commemorate the anniversary of chemical shaman's death. A prank that's right up there....

I just want to have it on record that I had no idea this was going on and was rather perplexed when people started sending me dick pics by PM. well done ferret & mods, LOL.

post-12613-0-90463500-1410321960_thumb.j

The picture attached is the first plant i ever was able to propagate from seed, an Argeyia Nervosa Var. Speciosa that i bought from SAB in the early days of lurking on this site. I remember when i first saw the little fella pop up i was so stoked that i slightly pissed myself due to excitment. He is now a lil over a year old and still going strong, will end up putting it on a trellis in part sun part shade once it starts getting a bit warmer. This plant is the whole reason i started getting into and collecting ethnobotanicals *edit* to propagate this plant i ended up using some sand paper to remove the tough husk around the endosperm, leaving only a thin layer of the woody husk between it and its contents. I then soaked the seed for about 3 hours before planting in 50/50 sand and garden dirt, took about a week for the first HBWR to pop up

P.S. If it helps me get win this round i will post a dick pic for everyone to see :innocent_n::wink:

newageshaman that's beautiful, that reminds me also probably one of the first ethnobotanicals I attempted growing. Down south winter temps had other ideas though..

bullit, move on mate

no more nuts or dicks please ! the joke is over, and it made me laugh several times through what was a pretty sad day. Looking forward to hearing some more plant stories!

Acacia madenii

post-13829-0-68281800-1410648132_thumb.j post-13829-0-87726400-1410648148_thumb.j

This plant is the first acacia i germinated.

I was sent x3 seeds as part of a trade, they sat around for a few years then in spring 2011 they were soaked overnight and planted......... all three seeds germinated.

In their first year the seedlings grew slowly and by the beginning winter 2012 they were a few inches high. At this time i made preparations to move state, culled lots and gave 2 of the madenii to a mate.

The third was packed with other plants into lge boxes on the back of the ute and across the nhulabour they were taken............. of course with a quarantine letter stating all plants were free of diseases or pests, this is easy if leaving WA, almost impossible if entering.

Having sooooo much to do at the new location, all plants including the madenii were unpacked, potted and left to their own devices until spring 2013. In her new pot the madenii grew quite well an put on a bit of height. The new place being a lot wetter than i was use to and having clayish soil instead of WA sand i was a bit baffled where to plant this plant. In the end organisation won and it was planted with other natives at a dam. Being six meters from the waters edge, she has bolted and tripled her size in a year.

Madenii is a great looking acacia and soon she will have lotsa new acacia friends nearby..... :)

Hi Ferret, i would like to include this Clone and the pics into the Clone Database if that´s ok for you? Great Idea for a competition! Whoever get´s it, please make sure that the Clone is spread among the members here because Chemical Shaman was a great Member here and he deserves to be honored with a clone that stays around for longer and doesn´t end up somewhere to be forgotten in a collection. Thank you Guys! bye EG

So the most successful propagation I've ever done would have to be slowly spreading TBMC around Aus.

When one suddenly fell into my lap a while ago there were around 3 maybe 4 people I had heard of having a TBMC in Aus.

After mutilating the mother and producing many grafts, there's around 15+ people who now have this sexy beast, and hopefully by the end of the season

there will be another 20 or so more!

Then there's the L. fricii crest, Myrtillo boobs, T. pach monstrose, L. williamsii minima crest, Myrtillo monstrose, L. schottii monstrose that are all also being propagated to spread around!

These have been BAP'ed and sliced up and grafted using the sticky tape method (as rubber bands keep killing them from too much pressure). Although i realised that TBMC cannot be BAP'ed as it seem to burn the tissue, also i've never seen a TBMC pup... only grow...

Anyway they weren't grown from seed though....

So from seed, I have some of Nitrogens crosses which I've grown and grafted and ungrafted. I have a TPQC that I've propagated with pereskiopsis grafts that I have sent to quite a few people, although that was sown and grafted by Mushroomman. But my fav is my TPM x N1 (I mean, look at that inermisness...)

Otherwise, there's this cool fellow from the first batch of seeds I gone done ever sown! At first I though it was a crest (which I'm kind of still hopeful for...) but I do believe it to be a double conjoined twin. I've grafted him to a myrtillocactus and I have a few other pups on that specific loph that look like they could go a little funky that I'm hoping will come to this season.
