ABC was a strain given to Marc Emmery by one Mr Ayres, who discovered it being grown by an outdoor grower here , It is a true cannabis strain and I actually know of FOAF who had this pop up from some seeds his father gave him although we were quite unaware what it was at the time , many growers mistake it for Polypoid strain however from my understanding this is not the case the original was distributed with flo ( a blueberry /bubblegum type high potrency starin) in the hope that growers would cross the two creating a high potency unidentifiable hybird , if this actually was ever successful I'm unsure any updates anyone, anyone acxtually come across the hybird I believe it was being sold under the name 'mutant' in some areas

Thanks Neo,

Yes that's right....swim had a few of the Flo cross seeds but swim whole stash was destroyed....

The seeds were really small.....plant looked like parsley...

swim'd love to know what happen to the other test growers.....

swim posted some photo's on the net back then, must still be kicking around somewhere?

there were a few posts about this funny looking cannabis strain on this forum a while ago, but i could not find the topic.

i remeber, somebody posted a pic of this plant.

it certainly would have the potential not easely to be id'ed as cannabis, but i think to remeber that people said, that it contains only very moderate ammounts of actives.

treating seeds with the juice of autum saffron (crocus autumnalis) might produce similar new genetic mutants...

just treating a standard form with colchicine from an autumn crocus might produce plants with double the chromosomes, but where you really get mutants is when breeding these tetraploids back with a standard plant. Those seeds would have all form of weird mutations in them.

Irie,

Well fuck me!

swim thought that they were destroyed but;

swim had basically written them off anyways.....

They actually ended up in the hands of the Niyabinghi, a rasta tribe, that swim had a meeting with back in '02, as they had ended up with swim stolen seed bank!!!

Since swim was essentially homeless at the time, swim agreed to let them keep them!!

Well swim have just recieved two seedlings of ABC....10 years later!!!

Pics as soon as they look good!!

If you love something let it go, if it come back it was meant too be!!!

I thought Ducksfoot was a different mutant? Much more resembling a classic cannabis plant with the joined leaflets while ABC was a sprawling shrub type plant?

Yeah different plants I'm sure:

Thanks - the ducks foot variety that I have seen in the photos of a friend has been far more "parsley like" with pendulous palmate leaves with crinkled margins that look quite different to Zaka's photos.. I heard from the friend that it lacked any real potency and was essentially a novelty...

Maybe a couple of variants getting about??

Doesn't really look anything like cannabis does it, cool. Please let us know the results after combustion.

I've been out of the cannabis loop for so long now, great to see some pictures of plants we talked about all those moons ago :)

Irie Guy's,

Thanks for the kudos!

What swim gonna need is a decent male....what swim have now is just not hard enough!

So, swim may have to ask for a pollen donor or two..To forward this project.....

PM me if you can assist.

I wonder if this is likely to be the same as the strain referred to as "mongy weed" among some of the aussie growers ? i have heard of ABC and kind of assumed they were the same thing by the descriptions given of each plant. If this is the case there are a few people around OZ who are cultivating this strain but not many. I have tried for a while to find a source of ABC seeds but had assumed they either died off or were kept to those in the know. I had dreams of crossing this with an arrotment both indica and sativa DOM to see what kind of bizzare babies could be formed ! i would love to see a Purple Erkle x ABC good luck ZAKA i hope that you are able to leave a few buds on there to self pollenate soas to keep a few seeds of the "pure" ABC before beginning your crosses.

shame this wasn't up a month or so ago or i could have got a mate to help with some Columbian pollen, i reckon they could have been a nice mix :)

edit: i would love to see some shots of more developed flowers of this strain if there are any avaliable ? NVM found some on my own

edit #2: after some digging i found the old info i had seen on the topic which will give you some background info on ABC / Bindi HERE i will grab an except for you guys here as it is in a hidden forum so registration would be required.

In its native state Mongy Weed is not very good for hemp or THC. It is a weed. The couple who found it began to cross these original Mongy Weed seeds with their own plants and were having some success until they were beaten by age, and new living circumstances saw an end to their love of growing cannabis. And as I had shown so much interest, this is when I was given their seeds and began to grow Mongy Weed for myself.

Most of their early crosses were with pure sativa and sativa dominant plants of unknown origin. As were mine. the first known strain I crossed with was Durban Poison. Mongy Weed was totally unknown as cannabis at this stage and i was able to grow it just about anywhere undetected which meant that I was able to introduce many different cannabis strains into the gene pool with relative ease. This mixed seed stock I called Mongy Madness.

it wasn't that many years after this ( stupid me, it was obvious in hind sight ) I had people trying to sell me Mongy Madness as Bindi weed, and I am reading reports in the paper about new "mutant super weed" busts.

finally most important of all the piece that ties the puzzle together

Mongy Madness faded into past knowledge for most people as far as I knew and I had heard little more until recently when I got a computer and learned of the Mongy Madness seed that Marc Emery had taken back to Canada and named australian bastard cannabis or ABC.

and yes ducksfoot and ABC/Mongy/Bindi are different mutants all together

Irie Spark,

Nice one, that does tie the whole thing together, many thanks!

swim made a few cuttings that are looking like they are rooting.

Got a jar of GA-3 solution to play with!

swim'll try to make some males....

swim good for sativa pollen but could do with a good indica...

The project continues.....

To those that are growing this strain in this thread, is Cannabis legal where you are?

Its funny how that rule is overlooked for many topics such as Lophs in QLD, or For that matter people in SA growing any form of mescaline containing cacti. But because this is cannabis it is a different story, as it always is.

Come to think of it with the laws against drug containing plants and analogue laws maybe we had better just delete all the threads relating to any plants with obscure substances in them, JUST IN CASE. I see several pictures of catha edulis come through here every week and it is scheduled right up there with cannabis, yet again its is different because catha edulis is what would be considered an ethno whereas people view cannabis as just plain drugs.

The forums' incrimination rule.

*sigh*

Zaka if you want to discuss ABC freely with people who will probably be able to get you what you need try ozstoners.

edit: i am not looking for a fight and i am happy to abide by the rules, but when these rules are bent so often without any issues i am left confused. Maybe a rule should be added that says "no talking about cannabis"
