Acacia ID

Question

Hi Guys,

Have found an acacia that is growing around my local area, (central coast NSW), and am wondering if I could get an ID?

Also I plan to ID this to see if I can grab seed pods from it and grow my own, has anyone got any advice on when the best time to harvest seeds is?

Thanks,

Looks like Acacia longifolia ssp. sophorae. Have a close look at the minor vein (nerve) network. Forgetting the main nerves running the length of the phyllode, the minor nerves should intersect each other a fair bit.

.............So it is probaly not madenii then?

Madenii tends to have "whiter" flowers, Those flowers defently dont look like madenii.

Considering your area being NSW i would say longifolia.... Lucky Bastard!
