absurd dreams

Recommended Posts

i have alwasy had very vivd and often very hard to understand dreams, but after cutting MJ out of my diet they have taken on a new ferocity.

the one i had had this morning went like this:

i was sitting on the steps outside my boyfriends house with my friend while she was having a cigarette, then all of a sudden the sky started to light up with multiple explosions and comets flying everywhere, then the sky literally caught fire.

we ran inside to tell our boyfriends and they didnt believe us, said we were just trippin out.

then i was instantly at my house and i knew something bad was about to happen. then a giant spaceship covered in weird sybols landed in my driveway and i knew they were coming for me.

i didnt want to go with them and ran inside and locked the doors, then knowing my efforts at hiding were going to be useless i began saying my goodbyes to my boyfriend and my mum.

then i went and locked myself in the bathroom. the alien had come inside, it was creeping along the hallway on all fours and then it was meowing at the door like my cat does when i go to the bathroom.

i asked "is that you bog?" and it replied "i'm not tea bog" in a very cat like voice.

i gave up and decided to go with the alien back to its ship.

then as soon as i was in the ship it changed into a delivery truck and the alien changed into a gangly delivery boy, i was shocked and confused and asked him what was going on and he said that i had to come with him to the depo to collect a chord for the new laptop my dad had sent me.

i would love to hear about anyone else's wacky dreams, and they are an endless source of wonder and confusion for me, i feel that they must mean something, otherwise my subconscious wouldn't have gone to the effort of creating such a scene for me.

alot of my dreams involve aliens, often they are trying to kill me and they hunt me down, maybe i am just paranoid, but alot of the time things are just so irrational yet so significant that i just cannot dismiss them as mere mind gibberish.

Dreaming about aliens coming to take you away.

worried about something is going to change your life?

"you're tripping out"

Do you feel that your boyfriend doesn't trust you?

Ps. You prob should stop smoking if you dream about the sky burning up with it lol :slap:

i dont know, maybe it is more concern about the genereal unrest coming up to 2012, i dont believe that the world is going to end but i think alot of idiots will think the world is going to end so they will do whatever the fuck the want becuase they think it wont matter anyway if we are all going to die.

and i dont smoke ciggies, i quit on my first day of working in a cafe, knowing if i didnt stop them i never would! been almost 2 years now thank goodness.

i dont know what the aliens thing is but they feature in my dreams about once a week. sometimes they are evil ones that spit acid, sometimes just fuckin creepy ones that stare blankly at me

Thanks for sharing your dreams with us - I've always been interested in dreams, and especially lucid dreaming!

My first impression o your dream is that there might be elements of growth and change. Aliens are often thought of as superior, often frightening beings that come from above. It sounds like the coming of the aliens is associated with fear and resistance - the sky bursting into flames, you trying to hide etc. Then it seems like you steel yourself and choose to accept the inevitable. The change to a delivery truck may be an additional representation of the arrival of new things - after all, delivery trucks generally deliver things, right? All of this may indicate that there is some unmet need to grow and change in your subconscious - perhaps something repressed, or perhaps your life has just become a bit too routine, or perhaps there is something that you need to face up to within yourself (or someone else?). Then again though, maybe you just have a fear of aliens, and nothing more, or maybe your dream was simply the result of you receiving a package the day before and then watching Independence Day!

I'm even less sure about the dialogue with your boyfriend, the cat, and the laptop cord. Perhaps you feel your boyfriend doesn't take the situation seriously? Perhaps this has some connection to your dad? I don't know. I think it would be very normal for anyone to be skeptical when someone tells them that the sky is on fire! Maybe your boyfriend's reaction in the dream is just you subconscious mind attempting to make the dream realistic, and nothing more.

If any elements of your dreams are recurring, I'd pay coser attention to them. And what you really need to ask yourself, is what do your dreams and dream elements mean to YOU? Do you fear aliens? Or do you secretely wish that one would take you away to a more advanced civilization away form all the hairless apes on earth? An interpretation of your dream must take the answers to these questions into account, I believe.

I have reoccuring dreams about rats in my bed and sometimes snakes. I often wake up in the midst of trapping them under my blanket. Snakes scare me a bit when i see them fanging around but rats i dont have a problem with. Im not really convinced it means something but it sure makes for some good lolz for the person sleeping next to me

Haha, that reminds me of a time when I woke up screaming. Only ever happened to me once in my life, and it was the night before I left to travel Vietnam for a month (i'd never been overseas and I was going without anyone i knew). I sat bolt upright and knocked over a glass of water whilst screaming at the top of my lungs. I woke from a dream, but could never remember anything about it. Weird...

Interesting dreams bogfrog, seems like I've finally met someone who is par with my vivid dreams. Also! Do you dream in colour or black and white?

I'll tell you about the latest vivid dream I had.

I'm on my way back to my apartment but on the way back I meet up with some stranger and buy some acid and pot. I get back to my apartment and starting chewing on the acid(I was dreaming.. ) The weirdest part then started. In my dream I was on an acid trip it was...

I then woke up though about it and got a glass of milk then headed back to bed.

In the next dream I'm sitting on a sideline with a single car in front of me. But the car was not the interesting part. It was the feelings that accompanied it. I felt as though I was being squashed infinitely small, and stretched. It was a weird sensation. And then I woke up.

I was not under the influence of any drug whilst having these dreams either.. :scratchhead: My imagination isi weird.

Yes, quitting MJ will make you dream like crazy. The odd thing is if you take it back up again you will still keep dreaming. It seems once you start you have them for life. Everyone has vivid dreams but only few can accurately recall them. If you get used to writting your dreams down or sharing them straight away you will get better at recall- Here is a wacky one for you....

The other night I dreamt i was my Grandpa. He is dead now and was a very sick man. I was in a large house that was somewhat like a medical facility. I was being escorted around by two strange men. One was incharge and was wearing more clothes of authority then the other. I can't exactly remember what but I knew he was the leader. So that led me to this large room with a shallow heated pool and lowered me into the pool. They walked off and I could see them chatting in another room with what looked like a scientist. The assistant hurried away and came back with one of those stainless steel trolley with all sorts of surgical equipment on it. At this point I could see the discussion was focused around me (my grandpa) and realised that they wanted to do some sort of experiment without my permission. I sensed the fear and tried to escape, but being an old sick man this was very slow and difficult. I managed to get to the back yard before being caught and i subsequently woke up...

This is the first dream I have had where I am in the body of another. Was a strange feeling and scary.....

i dream in colour.

i have had dreams in which i take trips too, very interesting when you consider all the visual elements and sensations are just as real as if you had actually taken something while awake.

could it be these altered states of conciousness are much more accessable for you to slip into while in a dream state?

when i was a boozer i would always drag myself home wasted as, go to sleep and then continue partying in my dreams - often getting up to really ridiculous stuff, which left me very confused in the morning as to what i really did and what i just dreamed i did!

dreams are just infinitely fascinating, would love a job studying them - now that would be a very happy and interesting lifestyle!!

i have only once achieved full lucidity for a very short time, it was after a very confusing dream a few years ago about being in my aunti and uncles big mansion and the staircases and walls kept changing and morphing like in harry potter, then i squeezed through this gap inbetween two walls into this weird room and i was looking around and there were all these big logs hanging from chains on the roof with pieces of my friends multi-coloured hair draped over them and big brown sheets hanging between each two logs with some silhouettes of various monsters on them and i was scared so tried to turn on a light switch then because i had seen in a movie that you apparently cant turn on or off lights in a dream BAM i realised i was dreaming, but i was still afraid so i jumped out of a window and woke up after about 5 seconds of lucidity.

would love to work out how to do it again, have never seemed to notice light switches in dreams since.

i think you are spot on with this one, thanks very much for stating the previously unnoticed obvious. i have a serious lack of things to do with my time and am currently applying for teachers college, although i had been putting off writing my application - which i just did today!

my attitude towards aliens is a mixture of fear and admiration depending on the one in question but yes they are a reacurring element, usually infinitely more powerful and intelligent than me, yet they want to kill me for some reason. they never suceed though.

lol maybe its something to do with the anagram my parents called me. I am Kea, which they also decided means Keep Earth Alive.

delivery driver (aka courier)

i just looked up the definition of courier, it comes from the latin currere, meaning "to run".

up until about a year ago i had recurring dreams of spiders, most of the time they were trying to get me, there was one or two when they were friendly spiders. never got the meaning of it, but there was a period of about two years when every time i'd be on mushrooms there was a spider of some sort there. weird.

my partner has spider dreams too, often wakes up and rips back all the covers frantically looking for them.

slightly off topic, but i heard recently a theory that an insect that lives on a certain plant and is always there could be the spirit of the plant in question.

there is a massive spider who is always in the same spot at the top on one of my partners cacti, happens to be the only variety i have ever tried.

i also remember reading about Arachne a spider goddess who weaves the web of life and also decides when your life thread is cut off, tried to find more about it on the net but couldnt find much sense through the rubbish

When I was a teenager and stopped toking for a while, I’d have these extremely vivid dreams that used to frighten the shit out me, but yet were in no way scary or negative. Like I’d dream about driving around looking for something in an area I’d never been to before and then would wake up in complete fear. That’s my weirdest experience I’ve ever had with dreaming.

The weirdest thing about it is when I was a little kid I constantly used to have dreams about been visited by ghost and dead relatives and it didn’t negatively effect me in anyway.

The subconscious mind is an enigma.

Peace

odd maybe there was something sinister about the history of the place which you were driving around.. if it was a real place.

i occasionally come across a place i have never been and i swear i have been there in a dream before

very strange

The subconscious mind is an enigma.

it truly is. my dreaming mind comes up with things i could never come up with, like when i wake up and start laughing at a joke somebody told in my dream. somehow my mind prepared that joke in secret then revealed it to itself and laughed at the punch line it must have already known.

i really love dreams, i've dreamt about different events on two different worlds which were each like one side of a zipper, utterly connected, but one of them was a brilliant movie and by comprehending the correlation, i transcended all barriers and became like neo, and i was teaching everybody how to do it, but we'd all keep forgetting, and start thinking it's impossible to be like neo! super powers in a dream are pretty unremarkable but being neo was rate cool. i could go anywhere in a moment by spinning the world around while my feet slid along the ground like it was ice. we performed epic feats and battles to test out our unlimited potency  and prove to ourselves it was real.

speaking of epic, i remember an epic tale of romance taking place while alien ships picked up cities and moved them around.

my mind is unhinged in some ways, i've always had dreams that are more brilliant and emotionally powerful than i myself am, even as a stoner. that's why i quoted the sentence above. it's really hard to believe that parts of the stories haven't been inserted by an external, creative force.

Last night I dreamt that I went to a restaurant where Hitler and his nazi companions met and ate during the ww2,... but all nice and modernized but with a develish restaurant logo,... hahahaha....... it's just brilliant how creative our brains are when painting our emotions in our dreams.

same here , many times.

this is where the recantation theory surprisingly originated.

i had a similar dream that seamed so real , seeing a space ship in the sky looking for people , im heading behind a bus shelter ,people running everywhere , then another ship comes in from another direction shooting the first ship , it comes crushing down into buildings... im running as fast as i can , i enter into this house , why i dont know.. found a mirror and looked into it.. then bang i woke up gasping for air.

there was moments the experience was so damn crystal clear in my conscious mind, in the dream im well aware of my breathing and heart beat.

this happened like 3 years ago.

I've had incredibly vivid dreams my whole life up until around a year ago, and I miss them TERRIBLY. I've had a couple recently, but I'm finding it harder to remember. I think those "legal herb" alternatives (now not legal) ended them a lot more than regular herb.

One of my alltime favourite dreams occurred when I was 11 or 12 and Donald Duck was chasing me in his little cartoon car with a double barrelled shotgun trying to shoot me. Lots and lots of beyond-thrilling adventures breathing underwater, flying, super-leaping around places etc. Lots of hell and warfare scenarios straight out of playing computer games like Doom and Duke Nukem3D etc. It seems there's more than a little warrior in my subconscious (or just played games too damn much lol). Thankfully for those dreams the adrenaline rushes are manifest and REAL, but there's no real FEAR. An acknowledgement that it should be fearful, but it isn't.

Funnily, a lot of my dreams seem to fire along strings of nerves. For example if I remember one particular dream, it'll always flow on to remember more dreams which occurred around the same time. As if they're imaginationland maps, with groups of dreams in different regional areas if that makes sense.

I had recurring dreams around 10 or so about a big red juicy apple at the end of my bed which I would try to reach for as I was so thirsty (yet I don't like apples) but I never got it. I read later in a dream meaning dictionary that apples typically represent sexual awakening (forbidden fruit).

Funny story, I've only ever had sexual advances rejected ONCE in a dream. Thank god for that because it was that jesse spencer dude from neighbours who's now in House LOL. He doesn't do much for me but I was still like blink.gif

Last night i dreamed several versions of the plague had been developed and deliberatly spread by governments who in my dream looked like they were part of an egyptian cult .believing themselves to be far superior to others they had plans to repopulate the earth with clones of themselve once we are gone. Then i saw china and the usa using space exploration as a front to their developing and competing against each other to create a weapons?

According to some (including a supposed spirit consciousness channelled through an American lady in the '70s), dreams are of pretty much the same fabric as the between-lives (afterlife) state. Thought projections manifest reality basically. YOur spirit consciousness leaves your body during certain sleep periods to reintegrate waking experience into more real whole-spirit experience. You know, believe what you will :)

I guess I'm in a sharing mood and I'd be interested to see some more experienced points of view on a recurring dream I had for about 3 years when I was younger. I practice lucid dreaming a little but am not too good at it, can manage about 1 lucid dream a month or fortnight on average (that I recall).

As many of you probably know I'm a fair bit younger than a lot of the community here, having been very young when the first Jurassic Park movies came out I saw them on tv when I was a little boy and for some reason had this dream almost every night without fail for a long time and it always scared the hell out of me.

(Please note that the following is ALL in my dream even when saying I 'wake up')

It's night time and in our old house my bedroom was right next to the back verandah, with a window facing out onto it with 3 steps leading up onto it from the garden. I would wake up (not in the sense of becoming lucid but waking up from sleep) and hear a sort of claws walking up the steps. I get scared and run out of my bedroom, the bedroom door being opposite side of the room to the window, and hiding outside of my bedroom up against the wall, next to my bedroom door. Glancing very quickly and as subtlety as possible I'd look around the door and see a large raptor (exactly like from Jurassic Park) walking onto the verandah, sort of sniffing the air as it did.

I just knew it knew where I was and was coming for me so I continued hurriedly down the hall but in a very quite and cautious way, feeling if I made any sounds I'd be gone for sure. About a metre down the hall from my bedroom door is the laundry, which had a door with a massive glass pane in it facing onto the verandah, about 3 metres past that there was the dining/kitchen area also with double opening french style doors facing onto the verandah.

As I'm going down the hall I can see it through the various windows only a second behind me every time until I'm in the dining area, crawled underneath the table with all the chairs pulled around me as close as they could get. The raptor (sometimes joined by others at this point) would stand at the french doors making those raptor sort of noises, gradualy getting more aggressive, for about a minute before smashing them open. Around here is when i usually woke up, but sometimes it would start smashing apart the chairs before i woke up. (didn't actually wake up, usually 'woke up' into another dream)

I had this dream from when i was about 5 or 6 until almost 9.

I actaully really love the jurassic park series of movies these days.

Sorry for fail typing. If anybody really wants I can draw up a paint schematic of the area of the house i described, if i didn't really describe it clearly.

had one this morning that went something like this.

at my boyfriends house and we noticed this incredibly big glasshouse on his property which we had somehow missed before and it was so huge it would take me litterally half an hour to walk fro one end to the other, we were planning on splitting it into three zones, one for cacti, one for food and one for leafy ethnobotanicals.

then ended up at this house belonging to a guy i know and we were sitting in his house with a group of hippies and they noticed the massive glasshouse at my boyfriends house and they all wanted to go explore it so we went over.

then shit started to get weird...

we were all running around in the glasshouse getting drunk and then more and more poeople started appearing out of no where until i realised that the new people arriving were'nt people they were like human shells all governed by the same conciousness, and then they snapped us all into this group dreamstate where we were all dreaming individually but somehow all the dreams were coinciding and we were all brainstorming on how to fix the problems that we as a human race are currently facing. we were all sitting as if in a movie theater and dreaming together, seeing the group dream as a whole made up of all the individual parts, sort of like when someone makes a picture of a face made up of hundreds of other photos.

the other people were only identifiable by a sinister feeling that you got when you looked at them and myself and my boyfriend were completely surrounded by them, we somehow managed to snap ourselves out the dream state and run away, but i think that if we had stayed a solution could have been reached.
