How can you possibly tell the difference from a pedro and a super pedro?

Question

The cactus on the left is a super pedro, while the thin one on the right is a pedro (trichocereus pachanoi)
The san pedro is thin because it is young, while the super pedro is a bit older and thus thicker.

How do you guys tell the difference between the two just by looking at it? They have similar aeroles and rib counts etc?

That honestly doesn't look like Super Pedro to me.

Super pedro is usually less green, has thicker (and usually fewer I think) ribs, has harder spines, and is thicker in diameter (though this is obviously harder to judge if it hasn't reached its full width). It's usually got a fairly distinctive profile too.

My super pedros also have much redder spines that are arranged differently than my PCs.

i think the person who sent you that cut mislabelled it as it doesn't look like any super pedro I've seen,

edit: good example of super pedro here

^^

i wonder about that, is cordobensis not an accepted species name? EG lists it a scop on trichocereus.net, maybe it's a scop hybrid of some sort,

I agree with all the above,i dont see a super pedro at all.as well as the above description from ballzac mine has a very textured scop like skin.I was also under the impression cordobensis was not an accepted name for what is called super pedro

Just for fun I decided to do up a couple of pics of mine. :)

{disclaimer} - The Super Pedro is in a pot, so would be fatter if it were in the ground. And I haven't seen this PC flower yet but it looks very much like PC to me.

Better pictures of another cutting from the same plant.
I don't think it's a PC pachanoi at all, although doubting a little that it's corbodensis...

I don't think anyone in this thread said that Gr33ntea's was a PC, just that they didn't believe it to be the clone "Super Pedro". It probably shouldn't have been sold or traded as "super Pedro" if the person doing the selling or trading didn't know what it really was.

And my pic was meant to compare one of our most common pachanoi varieties that I consider to be PC with a Super Pedro so people could see the differences when they were right next to each other, not to imply that Gr33ntea's are PC also.

Sabry - that plant looks quite different to Super Pedro or cordobensis IMO. Doesn't look PC to me either though.

But hey, it's really not my problem......

To me these sorta angles show a super Pedro, can't explain it but it has a unique form.. here are some shots from super pedro sourced from 3 different people.

Here are pictures of the mother plant. It has a more obvious blue tinge, the spines are kinda shorter and similar to the super pedro that most people have here.
I am curious what it is? I googled kk339, it looks similar to it

It could be lance... which is another "cordboensis" although my lance is a dark green. It could also be a pach x scop as they would look very similar. It's kinda pointless trying to figure out what a cacti is.

According to the seller, the ones he gave to me was a cutting that was planted in shade. So i am guessing that once it is in full sun it will look more like a super pedro. (blue tinge, bigger spines)
Has thing happened to you guys?
