NSF Posted August 3, 2014 If you'd like some oyster saw dust spawn then let me know.
mushfun Posted August 4, 2014 Cheers NFS. what sort of oyster you got?
NSF Posted August 4, 2014 On sawdust I've only got white oyster. Proven to be a great performer though. I've got king and blue cultures too. Hopefully getting grey back soon too.
mushfun Posted August 4, 2014 Have you tried the white oyster in eucalyptus logs NSF?
NSF Posted August 4, 2014 (edited) No I've never tried it on either eucalyptus or logs, but it loves oak sawdust and pretty much every other substrate that people have thrown at it, including conventional compost. Edited August 4, 2014 by NSF
Shrooman Posted August 4, 2014 (edited) I got it (white oyster) to fruit on cypress pine mulch, it's a great culture for starting out with! Edited August 4, 2014 by Shrooman
mushfun Posted August 4, 2014 Sounds really aggressive. What is our like to eat. Is this the "don't feed after midnight" strain that zen peddler has?
NSF Posted August 5, 2014 It's delicious to eat. I haven't experimented with ZPBG's strain that's aggressive on agar. I don't know how it compares. I do know that my strain is a proven commercial strain and sets quite a number of pins: Here it is...it's go so many fruit it doesn't know which ones to enlarge: http://ediblemushroom.net/index.php/topic,832.0.html and here it is previously on straw: http://ediblemushroom.net/index.php/topic,537.msg3120.html#msg3120
Zen Peddler Posted August 5, 2014 (edited) Looks great on straw there nsf. Nice even flush. Edited August 5, 2014 by Zen Peddler
Shrooman Posted August 5, 2014 Very reliable fruiter: On steralised supplemented woodchips: http://ediblemushroom.net/index.php/topic,751.0.html On Lime-Soaked sugarcane: http://ediblemushroom.net/index.php/topic,749.0.html On steralised mix of woodchips and sugarcane: http://ediblemushroom.net/index.php/topic,753.0.html
Zen Peddler Posted August 5, 2014 (edited) My white oyster strain was given to me by an old friend when I got back into the hobby and I had no intention of selling it as I'm not really an oyster fan myself but literally broke open four Petri dishes by cracking them it got my attention. not sure of its origin but I doubt its an official aloha bank strain or any other similar commercial strain. But then again I have ko1 and ko3 king strains and my Aussie sourced one seems way better.same thing with pioppino - have swordbelt and workie's and Worowa's performs.better. Zen Peddler Posted August 5, 2014 Nsf's does look very tidy!
NSF Posted August 5, 2014 Yeah it does produce pretty bouquets when you side fruit it. Right, I'm kicking all my bags over tonight. Side fruit the bastard!
NSF Posted August 5, 2014 ZPBG I'm happy to test the two strains side by side, in a dual in which the winner shall be showered with glory and the loser shamed, booed and potentially sent to the compost heap.
Zen Peddler Posted August 5, 2014 That flush of shrooman's looks fantastic - dud you notice a taste difference between wood v straw pr similar substrates?
Zen Peddler Posted August 5, 2014 Haha - my wife sends me to the compost heap quite often. ;) your defibately throws off some very uniform flushes
mushfun Posted August 5, 2014 Looks very keenly into it. Might have to have a go with it if I don't get my hands on some shiitake plugs
NSF Posted August 5, 2014 Oh sent to the compost heap, bummer, I generally get sent to the dog house. So have you fruited yours?
