Turbinicapus Flaviflorus?

Question

I am just trying to find out if T.Flaviflorus has a pink/white flowered variety, as can be seen in my photos. Looking on line and at friends they seem to only have a yellowish flower. Can anyone tell me if they have seen a red form?post-6697-0-16676200-1424483022_thumb.jppost-6697-0-14542600-1424483053_thumb.jp Or does this appear to be another ssp or hybrid to anyone, the Turbs can be a bit confusing especially in the Schmiedickeanus tribe( classic name!). I might add when that plant is fully hydrated it is about double in height and far more columnar than it is in these shots

Well, flaviflorus means 'yellow flowers', so I guess that's pretty self explanatory. Not having a yellow flower disqualifies it imediately. Your plant looks to me like T. andersonii or something close, very pretty little thing.

Some seed producers think cacti in the same genus do not cross breed and thus sell seeds as the species of the mother plant and take no precautions to prevent cross pollination, this may be the result of this oversight.

I agree that is a possibility, but what makes you think this plant has flaviflorus genetics in it? Even the body doesn't look very 'flaviflorusy' to me.
