☽Ţ ҉ĥϋηϠ₡яღ☯ॐ€ðяئॐ♡Pϟiℓℴϟℴ Posted January 31, 2015 (edited) Hi Thunderhorse, how did the grafting with the wax go? Never saw someone trying to repair a broken cactus. At first I was kinda sceptical, but with grafting you can do a whole lot of things that many people wouldn´t believe. I am not sure if a broken cactus can grow back together but I would recommend you to keep a very close look at it because of infections. The thing with the wax is actually something i´ve never heard before. Did you read that somewhere or is it just a try? The problem is that it oxygen can´t get to the graft, which might cause infections. not sure if you mean the vaseline or the yellow stuff on it so... first time i tried to stick it back together just after it arrived (further back in the thread) was sealed with vaseline / wax and the plant didnt like it at all this time round after cutting away the broken section and trying your toothpick grafting, i blew a few clouds of sulphur at it so the yellowy stuff around the toothpick graft pic wounds is sulphur not wax i want her to be a decent flowering cactus and wasnt really liking the idea of rerooting the tip and pupping the stem wish me luck ! and thanks a krillion , as always -chunderwhorse well these arrived later so i did me bizwerks Edited January 31, 2015 by ☽Ţ ҉ĥϋηϠ₡яღ☯ॐ€ðяئॐ♡Pϟiℓℴϟℴ
zed240 Posted February 1, 2015 Re-potted a few various plants into nice, big pots. This crest is gonna take off now hopefully. It's already changed shape so much over the last few months it will be great to watch grow up. Also reckon there's a couple of little growth points underneath that I can easily take off to graft without losing the aesthetic appeal of this one. This is a recent acquisition that I potted up and watered recently and it rewarded me with a fruit a couple days ago.
Brendo Posted February 2, 2015 Was treated to my first ever Loph flower a few weeks ago, even though it is grafted. Anyway it flowered twice & I tried to pollinate them with a thin paintbrush. I've since noticed this small red ball growing where the flowers were. Can anyone tell at this stage if it's a fruit? I have a feeling it might be another flower bud..but I'm not sure.
