YOUNGER BROTHER are a must, also

GREY AREA,

EASILY EMBARASSED,

and i second PINK FLOYD - ANIMALS, incredible under appreciated album. I had an amazing time recently riding my bike listening to that album, by the end of it my thinking brain had completely switched off and i was in a state of total bliss :)

i also recommend getting on itunes and downloading the free podcasts called CONFUSIONAL STATE MIXED BY GAZ, & DREAMSIDE MIXED BY GAZ. there not podcasts but dj sets, not bad, you'll find them under podcasts though

also the free psychedelic music site http://www.ektoplazm.com/about more than enough good stuff there, some really good psychedelic ambient

also anything from the the 60's psychedelic era. I find i really connect with it in a weird way, it can be pretty comforting especially the early stuff when acid was just beginning its revolution

Atomic Rooster ?

Amboy Dukes ?

Canterbury Scene stuff?

Lots of great music from the time you described, but for me it's better on the green dreams rather than the syd machine.
