Just when I think I'm getting a handle on id's.....

I can see why spachianus is a consideration for the top 1, although after looking at images of trichocereus spachianus, I think it might be the last 2 pic's which I was thinking was trichocereus grandiflorus, but as you say Nail. they have red flowers, although I read hybrids or cultivators can have white, yellow...orange etc.....I think now the last 2 are probably spachianus.

The top 1's ...doesn't pup...I was thinking

Pilosocereus, or Cleistocactus ??? 1 day it will flower, then I'll know

thanks

i'm with dreamwalker i think the top one is cleistocactus. you'll know when it flowers.

the one in flower is a schickendanzii perhaps.

First one is not a Trichocereus. I think it´s Haageocereus. Gracilis or so. Second one is Trichocereus Grandiflorus. But as Micro already suggested, Schickendantzii is very similar. Like synonymous Similar.

Really? I thought Grandi had red flowers and Schick's were pure white? Wouldn't that make them different plants?

Well, Grandiflorus is crazily hybridized but many of them are red. But they come in all colors and the white Ones are pretty similar, if not synonymous. That´s why i don´t really consider flower color alone to be reliable enough to ID a species. Especially within in a bastardized Species like Grandiflora. Schickendantzii flowers in white. Grandiflorus oftenly Red, Yellow, White, you name it. If you take away the flower color, they are pretty similar. Grandiflora has been used for Hybrids since like the 1900´s. Recently, it was placed in Echinopsis Calochlora, which is the bullshit of the year.

ok...well I'm happy :) thanks everyone for your input.

I'm going with the top pics being a Haageocereus (there's a few Haageocereus sp it could be, will have to wait for flw)

the 2nd probably Grandiflorus, possibly spachianus...........its hard.

I have much to learn when it comes to all things Cacti. Now that spring has arrived in New Zealand I can get on and sow that seed and start that journey of discovery
