0 Chiral Posted March 14, 2010 I've spotted a fair few of these out there and thought them to be Obtusi but until any flowering is noted then it's a little hard...they have all the looks of an obtusi, with 2 -3 lateral veins and no parallel veins on the leaves...it's the resinous margins that trips me up when trying to correctly id them...even recently standing right in front of a large one that was correctly id'd I still couldn't fully grasp that aspect of them. could be madenii but the leaf is slightly to large and fat. 0 mac Posted March 15, 2010 (edited) It looks a little like A.longifolia (Sydney Golden Wattle) but i would have expected to see a more redish tinge to the stems on the new growth Im not much good at IDs im just having a guess by comparing it to my longifolia in the front yard & your location Edited March 15, 2010 by mac
0 gerbil Posted March 15, 2010 ABRS Flora of Australia volume 11a and 11b Mimosaceae, Acacia. That's got a key which leads to species but it's heavy botanical descriptions, so you need to brush up on the terms pretty heavy. Soft cover sets you back about $150 i think, it's essentially the reference in Australia. Else get the Wattle CD, has an interactive key which eliminates species based on your input, 'bout $105 CSIRO, there were quite a many 'test' copies floating around few years back.
