Question

P1080119.jpg

I got this for some 3-4 years. Eventually it formed a very hairy portion, I took it its a cephalium, and yep, eventually it flowered from there. Twice. I wasnt lucky / fastr enough to see it either time.

Any idea on the genus, and as of when it flowers? day or night?

could it be, like with melocacti, that with the cephaliums, the mature plants become more sensitive to over watering? This has been sitting on the roof exposed to the elements for couple years. Should I be alarmed?
